It’s September, y’all! Randie’s birthday is at the end of the month… on National Coffee Day… that’d be the 29th. Here’s a “way back Squid” from that day in 2009.

Today, Squiddie Squidman leaves for some R&R in London! Harold and I are jealous, of course. That aside, Bon Voyage! I am told that our Squidman be looking for some Kendal Mint Cakes for yours truly. I am also promised a postcard from Jolly Ol’ England. Oh… and Happy Birthday to you, Squidman!

The Cartoonery, as with every First Friday, will be open for First Fridaying. So if you’re local to the Monterey Bay area, drop in tonight between 5 & 8 pm! See the events page for more details.

New downloaded music…

In the Mood: Robert Plant

Kiss Them for Me: Siouxsie & the Banshees

I got a kick out of this “soup dweller” ad. It makes me want to collage. I love to collage my sketchbooks. Cutting and pasting has always been a favorite activity of mine.

I can’t tell you how many times I have uploaded September First’s comic… and it refuses to load! I am so cheesed off… and it isn’t a good way to start your day! Has anyone else had this problem with Comic Press?!!!! I’m going to go punch something.

West Ender Squid

Well, it was a wild, wild West End weekend. Although the sun barely peeked out over the entire 2 day festival, the company was good… the music was good, the food was good and Harold, Minion #1 (Nelson), and I had loads of fun. So many local Squid fans stopped by the booth to give me their warm wishes… and that made me severely happy! Thank you, local Squiddies! I got to meet a buncha new peoples (including Mr. Mitchell who took this photo here)… and see many regular pals, and not so regular pals (many of whom live in Sand City). Zee & Stick-figurer dropped by the booth & my coffee pushin’ pal and Mr. Rollicker’s himself, Jim (who brought us coffee! and even helped us tear down at the end. Hugs to you!)

The Squid booth was situated in a high traffic area and was near the main stage so we got to hear all the music (it was a tad loud at times… but that’s what cotton is for)… honeymoon (intentional lower case), a local band… was my favorite. They played a cover song that I loved when it first came out in the early/mid 90’s called “Kiss Them for Me”… Yah!

Harold was overjoyed with all the hugs and attention. Wanna see photos?

Again… thanks to all who swung by the booth… thank you to all those who bought some Squidware (I hope you enjoy your stuff!)… and thank you to all you’s who made me smile with the kind words! I wish I could mention you all by name… but this post would go on forever! You knows who you are… and I loves ya!

Sandoon City, here I come!

It’s the West End Celebration, y’all… It’s time to grab the tent & table, load up the Brig-mobile, head for the dunes and sell some Squid. Besides the new Squid Row book, I’ll also have some new buttons and magnets for vending purposes (along with a variety of other Squid merchandise). So if you’re around the Monterey Bay area, head for Sand City to see some art, hear some music and check out the Squid Row table! more info!

So, I meant to post this the week Ryan was wearing his squid costume at the Calamari Kitchen… It’s Lucy Knisley! Not only does she write and draw comics… but she also is a seamstress. Nice job! I’d wear that! …and not begrudgingly, like our pal Ryan.

I found this lovely photo whilst searching the interwebs for Vespa photos. I would sooo put this vinyl sticker (I presume) on MY toilet. I could see a Vespa themed bathroom in my home.
