As seen on une voiture a Paris on my last trip to France. It translates…. I heart nothing… I’m Parisian.
Paris is eccentric and full of art and statues and beautiful people, and cafes and cars, and statues and pigeons and people walking, people biking, people on Vespas…. No, the Parisians don’t love nothing… they love life (or everything).
The Countdown Travel Clock has started… Harold is really excited to be traveling back to France this summer! And this time, he has his own site: www.travelswithharold.com …. you can see Harold’s (and the Squid Row team’s) travels around Western France… including Angouleme… the French capital of Comics! … and Paris, of course! I will be posting here on this site as well… but keeping up two websites may prove too much.
Regular posts will not be interrupted… Squid Row will still post daily… and Sundays will be a little different… you’ll have to check in and see what’s in store!
Yes… Donuts abound on this day, National Donut (and donut-eating) Day! Friday, June 7th… So you have a legitimate reason to go buy yerself a treat… I had a bite… just a bite of a chocolate cake donut with sprinkles (not pictured)… I missed my chance to photo document today’s donut… but here’s one to drool over…
Well, it is a sad day… where an instance of Life Imitating Art (LIA) has occurred… I swear… it’s not my fault!
Locally-owned and longtime art supply store, Searle Art in Monterey, is closing its doors for good. When I first visited the Monterey Peninsula back in 1991, Searle Art was a thriving, inviting and vibrant store… in fact, it was two stores! … one for framing and one for art supplies… conveniently located across a parking lot from one another. Those were the days!
So the news of the store closing is resembling The ArtBox closing in the strip here… which happened at the end of last year and the beginning of this year (2013). The circumstances aren’t exactly the same…. and…

So I just got the first three RE-releases of Scott Pilgrim. They are superbly colored, excellently designed books with extra goodies in the back including character and apartment sketches, photographs, and comic origins. I’m admittingly, obsessed right now with Scott Pilgrim having seen the movie recently (thanks, Walter). Look for some comic love in the future.
