National ‘Toonist Day & Free Comic Book Day!

You have to appreciate your local cartoonist. The moment captured above by “that famous ‘tooner guy” is what goes on everyday at the desk of cartoonists everywhere! Thankfully, he didn’t show the part where we bang our heads on the drawing board (It’s really graphic)… ha! Toonist joke!

Anyhoo! May 5th (also Cinco De Mayo) should be more widely recognized as Cartoonist Day… but we have no traditions… no silly parades or drinking games. We need some advertising. If you are a cartoonist out there… make yerself a button or t-shirt and spread the word! Offer free hugs… Ideeyah: Hug me. It’s National Cartoonists Day! Spread the word, ya’ll. If you know a cartoonist, hug them. Flowers are nice, too. Really. (Why should all the secretaries have all the glory?)

Now onto Free Comic Book Day (Sat, May 7th)… Want free comics? Check your favorite neighborhood comic book store and see if they are participating. You may just score some goodies!

Donate to Race for Hope and get stuff!

I would like to personally ask your help. Race for Hope needs your help. If you donate any amount to Team Spicer before May 1st, I will send you (all free-like… no shipping or anything) the 3 Squid Books (“Do Over”, “You Guys Fight…”, “Holy Mother of…”).

It’s simple. You go to Race for Hope… Search for Team Spicer (or just follow links)… donate… and forward me the confirmation the Hope-Race people send you. I will then send you the bookies (with a signature&toon, of course).

… many things… it’s Good Friday… it’s Earth Day… and it’s my 100th Sketchbook day! Yup… hit my 100th… today! (I did some creative sketchbookin’ to stretch it to make it April 22nd!) Judy went into slave labor mode… cupcakes are at the ready… Martinelli’s is ready to pour… and the office has some party atmosphere going on. To add to the fun, Minion number one has labored to produce mini-sketchbooks for those who can make it to The Cartoonery for the Festivities… Yours truly will be filling pages of these babies for my guests… so if you’re around…

…Or even if you’re not… send me 5 bucks and I’ll send you yours! No kidding! Go to the events page and there’s the address- you send me moneys- I send you book with toons in it. Better yet, drop money in the Coffee cup… (the paypal thingie down on your right) and I’ll send you your mini sketchbook with some random grab bag toons inside… (or tell me something like “I like monsters or cats… or cat monsters!)
