Feeling a bit like…
You’re getting the Friday post a bit early… as Harold and I are about to do a little traveling. Sometimes, getting away for a day or two is good for the health… mental and physical.
I feel a bit like Robert Louis Stevenson (of whom I’ve just finished up a Sunday about)… He did a great deal of traveling in his time… and he often was sick while doing so (RLS was constantly ill, practically from toddler age). I, too, am not feeling healthy. I’ve been plagued by a troublesome bug that has forced me to consume large amounts of tea & ridiculous quantities of vitamin C… and it’s grounded me from my bicycle… which makes me most unhappy. I feel like I’m on the mend though, which is good… but I’m not entirely “better.”
But the trip has been planned for some time, and I have my teas and whatnot packed. Harold has been most excited about the trip to Paso Robles and can’t wait to start tasting wine and surveying the pretty wineries at Harvest time. It’s Harvest Weekend in Paso, and the wineries are rolling out the wine-colored carpets and hosting musical type shindigs with food offerings and such. I don’t know how much wine I’ll be tasting, but I will certainly enjoy the food, the relaxation and the sunshine… and maybe a game or two of Bocci Ball.
Well, at least Paso is closer to you than Napa. Having mostly shaken a bit of feeling ill that spiraled crazily out of control, I’ll say that if you can’t put off the trip, at least take it easy and go light on the alcohol.
Ha, as you mentioned a certain t-shirt you like in your comic discussion today… I just got this image of you staggering up, all sickly but not drunk, to a bartender at a wine tasting room with mussed up hair, red eyes and nose, wearing the “I Spill Things” shirt and saying, “give me whatcha got, and make it a double…cause I’m thirsty and I spill things”
I will definitely take it easy. I’m bringing the art supplies… and maybe, Habibi. I will see how the wine goes… I might just be the designated driver… I don’t think Harold will do well by that duty (he’s a bit of a lush).
Have a wonderful, restful time. Get enough sleep and throw your cares off a cliff.
Glad you stopped in to visit! Now I am off to read further! – Rachel/PierceModern Gallery
Given the images of Stevenson and the wine bottle, I initially thought you were planing on visiting the Napa Valley site of his Silverado Squatters.
Take care, have fun, and if your not feeling up to it, let Harold sample most of the wine!
Ahhh… I feel rested… Thank you for all the well-wishing… I had a wonderful time! (Pics up soon)…
Rachel… I REALLY enjoyed visiting the Gallery there! It was good to meetcha! (And Harold is still talking about the artworks there!)
Beetle… You know your Stevenson history! Yah… He and Fanny stayed up there in Napa after they were married… and he wrote whilst he was “squatting.”
Squid Man… Harold overdid, as usual!
