Fan Art … and sleep…
Hello, Squiddies All…
I have returned from a deep sleep. Over the past few days, I have slept a great deal. I had four bi-cupids… I mean bi-cuspids, pulled from my mouth and although I am not in pain, which is a miracle, indeed, I am sleeping an AWFUL LOT. I didn’t expect that the teeth-pulling would effect my tooning/websiting so much… So I want to apologize to you all for not responding to your comments. Thank you for your correspondence and pleasant recovery wishes.
Now… Grey Wolf has offered up some Squid Row Fan Art… I post it here. Nice going, Grey. I’m glad you got the fact that Randie wears green, almost exclusively (green is her favorite color). And I like your color choices, as well. Is Ryan not drinking joe? Poor guy… no joe for you! Smiles, Grey Wolf!
Holy moley, you posted it already!
As for why Ryan has no coffee – remember, this was JUST supposed to be a sketching practice using Randie’s face … and it kinda grew from there. o.O
I know his hair color isn’t even close, but the kind of color scheme you usually use, I am nowhere near ready to try and pull off yet. So I kept it simple. Which is also why Java Joe’s window is pretty opaque, even though I tried to give it the feel of glass. Haven’t yet worked with doing a flood fill that blends the colors. That will be one of my (near) future projects. 😀
Glad you’re feeling better, welcome back to the land of the conscious!
ha ha… Grey… Keep at it… Your Ryan hair color isn’t that off… Randie’s is a bit soft… the coloring will take time. I suggest using layers and transparencies. If you want some help with that, I can give you some tips. What art program are you using?
Thank you for your “get wells.” I’m coming along! I’m awake, aren’t I? Which is a big improvement! Smiles!
Amazon lost my shipment (in the warehouse! how’d they manage that, it didnt get out the DOOR! >.<) of Manga Studio, so I am waiting for them to re-ship it. I have the latest and greatest Photoshop X5 Ultimate sitting in my cart but won't buy it til next week or so.
So meantime I am using my die-hard tried-and-true Paint Shop Pro ver 7 – look at that version number, and you know I bought it before Corel bought it from Jasc back in 2004! Think I bought it in … 2002? Still works great. Except for one small detail – no help files. The help files are so old they use a format no longer supported, so I get an error trying to get help on anything.
But thankfully there are some tip sites still up with PSPv7 stuff on them.
I will have those two new programs soon … and I am thinking of biting the bullet and getting me a tablet. The medium Wacom with the tools bar looks kinda good …
This is the one I am looking at:

Bought the Photoshop X5, it’s on it’s way… Yay!
And I am thinking of actually using my DeviantArt page (only made it so I could view others’ work) and post the sketches I have been making since I started practicing. Whatcha think?
And, yes Brig, any of the sketches that drift into “life drawing” territory WILL be flagged, so don’t get the fainting couch out just yet. 😛 Wanna hear what the other Squiddies think too but don’t want to clog up the comic forums, hope they wander over here.
Thanks, Grey… Deviant Art is a good place to put up works in progress and final products. It looks like you are amassing quite a tool box. I will be happy to give any drawing advice I can. You appear to have the drawing comics drive… and now you have plenty of resources.
