F.F. & F.F.
That’s Fun Friday and First Friday…
It’s Steinbeck Festival time at the National Steinbeck Center. There will be tours through Doc Rickett’s lab on Cannery Row, various lectures and a literary pub crawl. I’m goin’ to try to sneak over to the see the art show for the Of Mice and Men graphic novel.
Speaking of art, I love this cover of Cannery Row.
It’s also First Friday at the Cartoonery here in Salinas… see here for more info!
And… Somos‘ new location is rocking Oldtown… and they are carrying Squid Row: Welcome to the Neighborhood AND… they are having their first art show opening on this First Friday. Harold will be there! He’s gonna be on the wall! Come down and see.

Tres Tres Chic: Mocean Worker
Belgian Cappuccino: Mujaji

While I also like the painting, I’m not sure it makes a good cover.
You should try to find the techno music they played at Knott’s Berry Farm during the “Snoopy Starlight Spectacular” (there’s some videos on YouTube, but they’re not the right music).
REALLY awesome techno/rave remixes of the ‘Peanuts’ theme music. I wish Knott’s would just release it as a download.
Bane: my only criticism of it is that it has no blue in it. I like that the city (or it’s industry) is bigger than the actual person in the painting (he appear in the center but at the bottom). I like the smoke rising…and I love the telephone lines that criss-cross the painting.
Dada… I will do that… I love Snoopy & I dig electronic/dance/house/techno/jazz/electro-jazz and all that….. wait, so are you telling me that you WENT to Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular Ice Skating Show? How old were you?
I think that painting does make for a good cover but I would have put that white band with penguin classics at the bottom. Probably no blue in the sky ’cause of smoke-pollution.
Ah, Fun Friday!
Check out this world-traveling-in-a-minute video.
Truly amazing.
The three guys travelled 38 thousand miles in 44 days to make it.
This link is for the video called “Move,” but also check out the other two videos in the series of “Learn” and “Eat” at the site.
They may take a while to load (vimeo HD) but are so worth a look…er…experience.
As they call them…”3 beautiful and compelling short films” (1 minute each).
Ahhh, more Fun Friday-ness!!

Here’s a link to a live feed of Lollapalooza going on this weekend in Chicago.
Featured acts include: Coldplay, The Kills, Ween, Noah and the Whale, The Artic Monkeys, The Foo Fighters, Chris Martin, The Cars, My Morning Jacket, and more.
FYI: Lollapalooza was created by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell 20 years ago as an outrageous tour for his band. His band has since folded but the concert has taken on a life of its own and remains an on-going experience.
DaDa & brig,
re:Snoopy; I remember The Royal Guardsmen.
Wow, what was fully-open viewing (multiple cameras at each of two stages) yesterday, Fun Friday, of Lollapalooza on youtube is now restricted to ‘subscribers.’ Subscribe if you like…hope you enjoyed it yesterday. I guess that’s why it’s called Fun Friday, not Fun Saturday.
Yeah! I may have spoken too soon. The two stages are back online and live on my provided link above. Must have been pre-concert promo-fill footage that they were using earlier this morning. Hooray for…uh…Fun Saturday.
