Xmas Blues
” Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues.” – Albert Collins (Adventures In Babysitting)
I love that movie. But I hate the day after Christmas … one would think that it would be a day of happy… basking in the loot you get the day before. Instead it is the passing of the “most wonderful time of the year!” (as sung by Andy Williams)… It’s over, done. (Unless you celebrate Advent… then you got a few more days to go, yah?) Maybe THAT’s the way to do it. Keep going until Jan 5th. Except I usually take down Christmas around New Years. Sigh… it stings jus’ thinkin’ about it.
So for those of you who checked this comic first thing today… I apologize… once again… I mussed up. You saw tomorrow’s cartoon today! But now it is fixed. Sigh… Blues… Christmas blues… Hope you all had a lovely Christmas… and may you continue to enjoy the holiday season all the way into the New Year!
I dunno, you just can’t get the staff these days 😉
Mark, who’d be running away like mad if it wasn’t for the snow…
Now let’s see if we can get Tom Waits to cover this!
Hi hi!
Well… Advent leads up to Christmas, starting on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Then there’s the twelve days of Christmas. Those are the days between Christmas and Epiphany, which is January 6th. Epiphany is the traditional day that celebrates the wisemen from the East coming to visit the infant Jesus. This day is celebrated because it shows that Jesus is the Savior of the Gentiles as well.
We tend to put our tree up a few days before Christmas and take it down the day after Epiphany. Nothing required, of course. Just tradition.
