First time commenter, long time reader- I can’t cope with Maximillian! He reminds me of someone from my past! Poor Randie….am actually going to stop reading for about a month, then read all the strips at once to stop me getting stressed out! Its a sign of good writing when you can empathise with the characters so well done! Anyway- I’ll quit rambling now… 😀 Excellent comic to summarise!
You know, maybe Max acts this way because no one ever noticed or appreciated him until he began acting this way….although I don’t know how many people appreciate him now! Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that maybe he just needs friends.
Still, as annoying as Max is, it may behoove Randie to make friends with him. He’ll either become suspicious she’s trying to steal his technique secrets, he’ll shun her, solving the problem; OR he’ll feel appreciative and there won’t be a problem. Either way, if Max makes it big – as people of that temperament tend to do, much to the chagrin of we more “polite” folk – then Randie will have a FRIEND in Max, as opposed to the “enemy” she has with Jimmy.
I don’t think Max wants friends, because to have friends, you have to be a friend, and Max doesn’t. He wants fans, admirers, a “public”. For some folks, simple friendship isn’t sufficient. They need adulation.

Max is a human leech, will pouring salt on his head work :)? It might at least baffle him long enough to get a head start!
You should have put the last line by ‘max’ in a panel of it’s own for the last frame, with just an exasperated expression by the protagonist.
That MIGHT have salvaged the punchline that I can only assume you were attempting to convey.
Maybe Randy should take him to the Aquarium. …. …….. Gus might appreciate a new toy…. 😈
