Times Are
I’m a morning person. As I sip my first cup of coffee, I’m watching the sunrise… it’s joyful. It’s a hopeful start to a new day. You don’t know how the day will unfold, but you derive a positive outlook as you enjoy watching the sun peek up over the backyard fence and the birds gathering together on the power lines.
This is not the end, but a beginning. This is a joyful start to a new adventure.
BFF(Best Friends Forever)!
Nice Brig!
So that’s the wrapup, huh? Well and good. Hail and farewell!
I’m gonna miss seeing our beautiful Peninsula in comic strip form.
I am SO much a morning person. I’m bright-eyed and insufferably cheerful BEFORE I get my morning coffee. Getting up after 6:30 is wasting the day, and I prefer getting up at 5:00am. With my new job, I’m hoping I can keep that schedule.
And so closes one book on Squid Row. I’m sooooo looking forward to the next one!
Boy, this has me with mixed feelings…..Yes, I am seriously bummed that this strip is coming to an end, especially having only discovered it so late in the game. I am extremely hopeful for your next project, Bridg, and I will follow it as faithfully as I did this. I’ll keep you to your word that this is only the first step in a long journey, and have faith that your next step will be as great as this has been. I really want to see more of Randie and Ryan, and how they grow together!
What just happened here? -_-
Joe… they say you need to be best friends if … you are to be more than best friends. So BFF is most correct.
Robert.. Well, it is a BIT open ended, yes? Do not fare thee well in the sense that is over… Fare thee well in the sense that a whole new door is opening up.
Jim… You won’t NOT see the peninsula- I assure you. In fact, you will probably see more, in an ironic way.
Pete… Charlie Brown was asked if he liked sunrises or sunsets. We have discussed this at length both here and at Chez Brig. Sunrises are full of promise, and sunsets are a prayer of thanks for the day. At least that’s how we see it at our house. Our dining room faces the sunrise. There are power lines and birds and such in our sight… and it is a lovely way to start the day.
AND NEW JOB! Hooooooray! yay you! New beginnings all over the place!!!!
Jon… Thank you, Jon… please stay with the story, yes! It is NOT ending… in fact, my plans are not concrete with this site. They are fluid. I know exactly what I’m doing with the next adventure, but there are several doors and I’m only opening one of them. So yes, you will see Randie and Ryan grow… but you may see several things all going on at once! Isn’t that fun?
Legacy. I have left it a little open on purpose. However, I direct your attention to body language… and the assurance that there will be a post in the blog on April 1st.
Please don’t go away, friends. THIS IS SO NOT the end. It is merely the beginning to a much larger world.
Well, FINALLY “they” admitted to being a bit more than “coffee compadres”.
Downside: What am I going to do without my favorite morning “soap”?
(Woe is me! Where’s the Jamesons?)
Panel 1 BEAUTIFUL
Panel 2 Rye-Bread has facial hair. The transformation has begun…
OMG YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Brig 🙂
I hope the post on April 1st will not be an april fool’s joke. Looking forward to see the story to continue to unfold.
Wait… what? How did I miss this, how do I find the blog post that mentioned a closing chapter and an opening book? Metaphorically speaking that is.
Also, poor Mouse… but he who snoozes loses.
So, am I the only person who seems to have problems with signing up for an RSS feed? Any time I click an RSS link all I get is a page of code.
Cheap Uncle… no worries… the soap will get more soapy. Think of it as a little vacation for Squid. A nice picture… a squid with a margarita… or a KAPU!
Dada.. thank you. I spend some time on that… and relatively little time with the facial hair… ahahahhaa.
Ep… Smiles! In France, April Fools Day is celebrated by pinning paper fish on people’s backs. I think we should do that here… I guess it’s kinda like the “kick me” sign. The French are so funny.
Gramy… Mouse is a poor fella. He has to learn to speak his mind and have courage. He may not learn the lesson until he is much older. Some people mature much later in life. Let’s hope he grows… up.
RSS Feed help… anyone? I’m, unfortunately not a tech pro.
this is what I found on the internet… click below, it’s a link!

I’m a morning person, too. I love watching the sun rise, the crisp, clean look of a morning sky, the way everything looks fresh and new.
And then I go to bed.
Chug… work nights, eh?
Sadly, no. Did while I was in college, it was lovely, but my current job doesn’t have a night shift.
The more things change the more they stay the same, I believe is the old saying. Let’s see what changes the near future brings.
Ah sweet Randie, we await what colorful butterfly will become of you.
(Probably the type that’s very beautiful but bumps into windows.)
“They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” ~Confucius
Aww, what a sweet way to tie up this chapter of the Squid Row saga, and I’d expect nothing less from you, Brig! 😀
You surely have oodles of brilliant ideas that you’ve been holding back, and I’m excited to see what’s next for Randie, Harold and yourself. Whatever you do next, I’m sure it’ll be awesome! God bless, and don’t stop having fun!

Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife — chopping off what’s incomplete and saying: “Now it’s complete because it’s ended here.”
Beautiful Sunrise, romantic start, adventure awaits. Well crafted, Bridgett!
I’m also a big fan of sunrises. I love the gamble – will we get a sunrise today, or will clouds or fog block it? I love being out and about in those early hours when everything is quiet, knowing I’m seeing something special most people just sleep thru.
I’m still confused about the “ending” but also “not ending” of Squid Row. Looking forward to the new, whatever it is.
That’s funny Brig, being French Canadian, that’s also what we call it in my neck of the woods. As kids we would play kinda like a tag game, trying to stick a fish on someone’s back without them noticing, then yell “poisson d’avril!” (April’s fish) and run away laughing. It was also fun drawing and coloring our “fish” to stick to our next victim. Happy April Fool’s day everyone!
Thank you all… for your touching thoughts on this strip!
Chug… sounds like you prefer to work throughout the night hours… making you a night owl.
Trev… I hope you will enjoy the NEW and IMPROVED … more tomorrow!
Unca Bad…. yah, that would be Randie… bumping into things with all of her sweet silly-headedness. But at an artist, her butterfly colors would be all splattery and purty.
Zen… thank you! It will be an adventure… hopefully for everyone!
Leo… that is a nice saying… if it were about rose bushes… you have to trim them every now and again so that their blooms are increased. It’s a hard lesson for those who are afraid to use their knife!
bscruff! Thank you… Randie is finally in a lovely place. And I’m sorry we missed mini-comics day this year… Current Comics must have a mini all day comics day!
JC… you take such lovely photos… sunrises are a gamble to photographers! I am usually, if not always, up at daybreak to see the sun creep up over the neighbor’s backyard.
Ep… Ah! Yes! I am French Canadian, too! But I didn’t grow up with much of the traditions… just the Catholic-ness. Anyhow… Did you see Randie’s Easter a few year’s back? I will post a link to that particular toon. I think you’d find it interesting… knowing your history. Ha! A pun!
Eprinc… for you: http://squidrowcomics.com/?p=4329
Thanks for the help on the RSS feed Brig. Google Chrome got rid of it’s feed reader so I had to download a different one. I got your feed now so I won’t miss a thing. Yay!
I have tried all the Google Reader alternatives and have settled on:
http://www.inoreader.com
This is the closest to Reader, for me.
Here’s one of my recent sunrise photos:

Thank you Brig! We didn’t do chocolate bells but I remember the bells not ringing during Easter weekend. They would only ring AFTER Easter service on Sunday. My priest was amazing as a kid, he had chocolates for all the kids and would invite the kids to come up to the alter to get them and he would say “and Jesus said let the children come to me” and we would group hug. I would probably still attend church now if I still lived back home, I’m one of the young ones that moved away for university (college) and never came back 🙂
I love your picture JC Dill thank you for sharing.
And Brig I just saw yesterday’s post I’m beyond excited to check it out over the weekend. Gotta get back to work, only two work weeks left before I go on maternity leave.
Cheers everyone 🙂
Gramy… yay! I’m a bit slow on some of these things. I’m glad things worked out! I would hate for you to miss anything!
JC… that is a lovely photo! You do such good work!
Ep… Did you do the chocolate fish? THAT threw me for a loop until I got the whole April Fools thing. Weird… chocolate fish.
As for Ryan’s facial hair, he hasn’t shaved for 24 hours. That’s 5 AM shadow. Maybe Brig will have him grow a beard again, but with the strip going dark I won’t know.
Mouse should go for Midge. I always had the idea she kind of liked him.
If Rye Bread and Randi are going to be together, does he dare to write the novel about her he was planning? My advice wold be:no way. Too dangerous.
Brig, no chocolate fish. We have the same chocolate you have in the states, bunny, chick, etc
Michael… that secret novel is now somewhere in their apartment… It would be most interesting should Randie find it… and you need only to go over to Randieandryan.com to see more of that facial hair!
Ep… no choco-fish… eh? I likes me some dark chocolate anythings… and gosh darn it… peanut butter eggs. I’m so ashamed.
