Okra can be the worst. BUT. Sliced into chunks, battered and deep fried it’s good. I speak from personal Southern experience. However that’s the ONLY good way to serve it. My mother once offered boiled okra … I still get the shivers.
I tried okra a few times in the frozen variety… just to try something new… um, it didn’t stay on my grocery list… ever again! slimy!
I love okra. Especially whole and batter fried, or pickled. But the best is diced and sautéed with tomatoes and corn. Classic Creole dish.
If someone were to properly cook it for me, I would be willing to try it again. Pickled sounds interesting.
