When I was very little, Our dad took us to Monterey. I saw the ocean for the first time there. We at at a restaurant on the wharf, and drove down 17 mile drive to Carmel. Thanks, Dad, I miss you.
Lee… That sounds like a wonderful memory.
I remember the first time my dad took us camping. He bought me my first comic book (it was Batman)… and well, you can see where it lead me.
So I raise my mug of French-pressed coffee to my Pops, your Pops, and all the others today!
Stick: Hmmm… I’m guessing something hearty… like roast beast and swiss… or something. Spill isn’t as starvin’ as Randie is… so she actually has stuff in her fridge.
I grew up, not so much under my father’s care as in his shadow. It’s not bragging to say he had more citations in “Who’s Who” than some presidents. Under “accomplished” in the dictionary, it has his picture. Living with such a force of nature could only result in failing to measure up. I loved my austere, demanding and perpetually disappointed dad in a way, but I have remained good friends with my own progeny, something I never felt with him.
I am always happy to see close families like Spill and her dad. Thanks, Brig!
Beach Glass hunting is the best. I have a huge jar full of beach glass. Now I gotta use it for something….
Dad and I don’t do something special together, like Spill and her dad, but we’re happy just to be together.
