Poor Locale
They say draw what you know. This lovely little scenario happened to me at the last festival I was involved in (I, ahem, won’t name which)… In any case, there wasn’t a metal band… but it sure was LOUD!

They won’t sell too many goodies parked right next to rock band speakers.
It may be fun though, if the band hits the right notes and all the ceramic gnomes explode.
It’s always loud. Sound people have a problem with human conversation, and so do their best to make it impossible.
I’m guessing it’s not the Trans-Siberian Orchestra….

More to the point, most sound techs are nearly deaf.

BeetlesBane– Well, Brig always calls me ‘chug’, but whatever is OK, as long as I know you’re talking to me.
And that they’re nearly deaf doesn’t surprise me at all! I remember one time I was in this restaurant with a live band. The place wasn’t that big, maybe the size of a classroom– they really didn’t need amps at all, but they had them, and enough volume to fill a normal-sized concert hall. The food was great, but we never went back there again.

chug again… I hope chug is okay… I could call you shoog… which is actually more correct… ANYHOO…. stupid ain’t it… amps in small rooms should be outlawed… fractured eardrummery is totally unnecessary… and I’m about to beat that idea to death. Just to get my point across. Bear with me. (I was really mad about this incident!)
