Ah, the newbies. Makes your heart break when they seem so frazzled, makes you proud when they start moving up on their own …
… and some make you want to go home and bang your head on the wall for hours screaming “why? why???! why tech support?!?!?! you’re worse than the people calling IN!!!!”
Heya Brig, I hope you get lots of entry for your drinkie thing….only thing I ever drink is Baileys and I’m not so sure I could come up with a tropic drink with that as my base….but best of luck for you and harold and the tastings! yum!
@Grey Wolf….lmao…I’ve been helped by those whom you speak of…and I’m like, seriously, I called *you* for help.
The only thing worse than getting stuck in a bad fitting job is having it become a career. Sometimes you have to take jobs that you’re lousy at because you need money and there’s nothing else available. Then when you go out looking, the only places that will talk to you are the ones just like the place you’re trying to get away from, because that’s were you have “experience’. Like being stuck doing chores you hate to do…and having to do them 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with a manager reviewing and bossing you, and no end in sight. Also, since you can’t get your mind around how to do the job right, you never get promoted out of it. Maybe fired, only to repeat the process.
Is the Tiki Tavern already completed? Or is Rye looking to lay back and live off the wealth he amassed at the Kalamari Kitchen for a while?
Feather’s the kind of person who in her innocent, scatter-brained, stumbly way, ends up happy and rich. It’s nature’s way of compensating for shortages in other areas. (Feather is not overburdened with a significant amount of self-awareness.) I’m glad, too; Feather is nice.
Ha! Hi all! I’m in Vegas! Harold so far is on his best behavior.
I feel bad for Feather. She will probably be a lousy waitress… But I hope she finds someone to save her from that. Pete… Maybe someone well off. Or maybe she’ll move to St. Cruz & find a grad student… And be whisked away … Anyhoo Ryan isnt at lava Luna’s yet. Soon!
Would love to grab the wife, run off to Vegas for a few days and come hassle ya Brig, but schedule just won’t allow it. Maybe next year? 😀
Meantime, hopefully Harold’s wanderings can meander somewhere closer to Des Moines (Minneapolis isn’t that far … or KC!) so I can swing by, her too if she is in town (travel nurse).
Hassle me? I’m certain you wouldn’t do anything of the sort. And Harold has made so many new pals … He’s such a flirt! Anyhoo, come hassle me some other time, Wolf.
Ahhh, the National High School Chess championship . . . I remember it well. Back when I was in HS (w-a-a-ay back in the early 1970s), I competed with my HS team. We were the #5 team in the nation that year. Quite an experience — played against a couple of folks who are now international masters. Quite an experience.

stick,
Since Ryan is to be head waiter, he’ll probably be taking part in the staff hiring interviews.
Get out Rye! Run! Run as fast as you can and don’t look back!
Joe M,
Given your interest in chess, you might want to note that the national High School championship is in Minneapolis this year, April 13-15.
I hope she ends up ok, she looks like she needs a hug in that last panel =/

Leave it to a guy to completely miss the emotional undertone of the moment.
BB,
High School Chess. I remeber it well. Went to the state tourney in Wisconsin and got trounced by kids much better than I.
Oh wow, we’ve had her as our waitress! Many times! At many restaurants!
