I actually saw this piece in Amsterdam at the Van Gogh Museum. I love Van Gogh… and this is certainly one of my favorite works by Gauguin.

This reminds me of Norman Rockwell’s “Triple Self-Portrait”. Both revealing and humorous.
So…it’s a comic image of a portrait of a character, based on a portrait of another artist done by yet another artist?

Thank goodness it is not a photograph of an artist’s print of a self-portrait of an artist inspired by an artist painting another artist, because that’s one of the signs of the End TImes (I think…it’s been a long time since I checked those signs)!
But even if it were, it is an awesome first panel.
Thanks… I am pleased with how the first panel turned out. It was suggested to me that I actually PAINT this. Sooooo, that would be art imitating art imitating art imitating life…
