Furniture
Sometimes it’s not worth having nice things. Having a really nifty car means you have to worry about someone “thefting” it or scratching it. A lot of energy goes into maintaining said nifty car… because you have to take care of it… washing… waxing… regular engine maintaining.
Randie, furniture-sitting for Ryan, would have to worry about not getting paint on the furniture… That’d ruin the whole thing for me. I guess if it REALLY bothered him, he’s do the Public Storage thing.
He’s giving her furniture? How can Mouse compete with that?
But sometimes it’s worth having the expensive things. I keep a very nice Swiss Army knife in my pocket. It’s perfect for the PC repair I do. And because it’s a little pricey, I always make a point of knowing where it is. It was the same for my pen when I carried one.
Pete… But I always sit on my expensive sunglasses! I have had a pair that I paid 15 euro in Paris for… and they have lasted nearly four years… if they’d cost me 150 euro, I would’ve lost them by now. (Long live your swiss army knife!)
Joe! You made it back safe! No train derailments or snow evilness for you! I hope. It was nice to have you out! Thanks for the visit! (more pics soon).
Haven’t had nice furniture until this year–four kids and too many pets! Even now I cover the couch and chair because it’s easier than running the animals off. I like things a little used anyway–you know where the comfy spots are then.
Seems as how Rye is moving on and leaving his furniture to Randie, that one, she’s inheriting it to use as she will, and that two, Rye’s got to know her well enough to know what will become of his trusty furnishings, sob, if they’re bequeathed to her, otherwise he’d just leave them to someone more, uh, responsible, or perhaps, not of a painting persuasion.
Pete,
So what does your Swiss knife do? I’ve got a couple of the digital readout ones. One is a hiking knife and tells the temperature, elevation and predicts weather changes. Another is a more urban knife with little digital clock, timer and alarm clock functions, besides the usual knife stuff. Those swiss knifes can be really cool toys. I just wish that I’d gotten one of the ones with the mini torches on them, I believe there were two varieties, before they became illegal, barred from sale and discontinued. sob.
Ruth… Kids and pets are the fasted way to “broken in” furniture! Cats seem to know when you have something “precious.” When I got my big new real-wood desk at home, the cats thought that it was a new jungle gym. The scratches make me nuts… but I keep reminding myself… they don’t know any better. I have somewhat trained them to NOT play on my desk (when I’m around anyway)… their paw prints give them away.
Stick… I had no idea the Swiss AKs did all that. Does any of those models have a coffee grinder? I’d buy that.
