This toon had a very different beginning. Mouse originally tells Randie that she’s to pick up not only the dozen donuts, but also a “Mouse Special”… which they behind the counter would know what that is. Frootie Loops on some sort of special-like donut.

There used to be a donut chain in St Louis when I was in college. Can’t remember the name to save my life. You couldn’t go in and just order a jelly donut. You had to specify what KIND of jelly – they had 15 or 18 different KINDS of jelly donut – raspberry, lemon, strawberry, blueberry, boysenberry, creme, you name it – I was in heaven!
I am a huge fan of the plain cake donut. It’s the best coffee/donut combo.
I’ve been shying away from donuts recently – they’re too darn TASTY! – but my favorite have always been “Earthquake” donuts. Those are sour cream donuts that break apart easily.

Squiddies… Sometimes writing about things you really like but only do in moderation is a BAD idea. Pre-cartoon:didn’t need a donut. Post cartoon: need a donut. DAng it! I sabotaged myself!
No matter… all of the “fav” donuts you all listed… sound marvelous right now! But I wouldn’t go for a bacon-maple-drool bar. Pass.
You mean donut come in more flavor than just powered sugar?!! (joking, but we don’t have that many donut in France. one more thing I need to try if I go to the United States…)
In south Louisiana we have beignets. Dough cut into squares/rectangles, deep fried and covered with powered sugar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beignet
Val… I did see donuts in Angers on our last trip. They looked very much like American Style donuts…. except the frosting and sprinkles looked like they were baked on a little on the top. They were a tad melted.

LOL, I was saying that the thought of a maple bacon doughnut sounded so good it made me drool at the thought. But I’m sure you knew that, the thought of a doughnut with drool on it… yeah… sounds disgusting.

For you I’m suggesting a dark chocolate cake donut with white chocolate icing.
I am such a vanilla person–just plain, glazed (and fried, not baked) doughnuts for me, sometimes chocolate coverd, depending on my mood. Can’t stand Krispy Kreme though, just don’t taste right. We had a little shop in Oklahoma City run by an ex-cop that had the absolute best ones I’ve ever had (of course)!
Yat – ain’t NUTHIN’ better than sitting around at Cafe du Monde with some beignets and a cuppa good strong chicory java!
I haven’t met a donut I didn’t like.
