Salinas? Where’s that? I thought the farming neighbor of “Cypress City” was something like “Salad Bowl.”
Anyhoo… Garden Trolls and cheerful slaves? Ha.
And Elves as Gnome substitutes… uh, huh, wait, erk.
Why is it that here in the U.S. elves are generally seen as short and fat? I used to play and still have a Dungeonquest board game (Gamesworkshop, England) that would play on for many hours at a time and featured a whole lot of painted metal fantasy figures, including an elf or two. And, those elves were far from short and fat.
Seems that European Elves are tall and skinny. Ever see The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy? Planning on seeing the Hobbit movie trilogy? Yes, their elves have pointed ears, but they’re tall and skinny, noble and able sword fighters. Silly American elves. Cheerful slave labor would not suit the European variety.
Squid… Yeh, they attract lots of bargain hunting tourists.
Not a lot of Christmas present shopping for us yet. But we did go and get our tree. It was a monstrous 13’4″ Fraser Fir. This is our first room with the new Great Room all finished, so we went BIG this year. Mmmmm! Love the smell of pine!
Squid… EofO… Audra… I actually like gnomes, too. But I’m not Randie (well, not ENTIRELY Randie)… I find clowns scary, also as well.
Dave… jolly fat guy keeps the gnomes happy with candy canes and peppermint bark (from Trader Joe’s). Without this sort of bribes… the short fat elves go creepy.
Grey… let’s keep our fingers crossed.
stick… that’s Salinas City (or Silly-nas, as I like to call it). If you know your history, Salinas used to be called Salinas City and somewheres along the line, the City was dropped.
Elves in Rudolph (stop animation) aren’t fat… just the head goatee’d elf… The garden gnomes seem to all be pudgy…. but they have Euro roots.
Pete… over the weekend, we got our tree as well… not nearly as large… but all smelly and pretty. So far, no cat attacks. Your Great Room must be a sight to see!
Uh oh, beware of the roaming gnomes!
Not evil? Only because they have that ‘jolly’ fat man to keep them in check. One day, they’ll be pushed to far. . .
. . . one day, our time on this world will come to a violent end.
Spill and I are kindred spirits. I really do not get the anti-gnomianism.
(That was a freebie for any theology students out there.)
Looks like the midnight postings are back too! 😀
Yeah, to the Gnomes return!! I am with Spill and Empress…Gnomes rock! Clowns…now their scary!!

Randie cried, “Dem sly gnomes!”

Could it be Halloween in Christmas?
Jack… might could be….
