I rather like theese ideas. There wholesome and good.
Yup, all those gifts would thrill me to no end if I got them.
Brig: I don’t have any close artist friends. Can you suggest someone………..?? 😉
Squidman… Wholesome and good… well put…
Pash… thrilling… yes, thrilling… also well said.
Yat… Weelllll….. you’ve got three persons right now! Smilies!
Yup, sketch books and similar substitutes are prized and become priceless when filled (well, if their particular series of stuff is good). I go through many a sketch book, but the pages are separated as the drawings proceed, so the book quickly stops being a book. I also go through many a napkin. They’re very convenient driving, munching and coffeeshop sketch material, don’t cha’ know?
Hmm, toilet paper and frozen pizza crusts? Yeh, I suppose they could be used for sketching, too, in a pinch.
Ah, artist tackle boxes. Them tool boxes are wonderful things, but your needed goodies will ultimately find their way to your favorite tote.
Wow, art store gift certificates. That’d be a super gift, that I’ll likely never get myself. The only thing better would be one of those ‘run through the store with a shopping cart dashes’ where everything you can grab in 15 minutes is yours. That there’s fantasy fairytale territory.
With all of the violence oriented video games, toys, and movies that are given out as gifts every year, I rather think that wholesome and good gifts
are much better to give. 🙂
Squid… Yeh, so long as the givee’s don’t go and use their new paints and brushes to decorate their bedroom walls, brothers, sisters and/or pets.
stick,
If that looks to be a problem,, think water soluble.
What’s this, Randie giving hints to Ryan? Doesn’t she want another organizer/planner book?
Been on both the giving and receiving end of this! 🙂
As well as giving handicrafts as presents….
The Auld Grump
I feel bad, the Wacom has zapped my use for a uh, um….hmmmmm, wuzzit called? Oh yeah, a pen and pencil.
And if you gift a sketch book, maybe they gift it back, full of sketches, someday? 😀
(think about your answer, Brig, maybe I go shopping …)
We have quite the artist in our youngest son, Benjamin. He’s almost 15 now and has been drawing since he was three. (And drawing better than me since he was four.) Randie hit it right on the nose: Supplies, containers, more supplies, and gift cards for more supplies and containers.
And be creative! Artists will perform acts of art on just about any surface or object that will hold still long enough, using anything they can hold and will transfer an idea. We’ve gotten him 75 yard rolls of paper, countless sketch books, frames, etc.
stick… no, silly… staple food: pizza… staple paper product: toilet paper… staple artist supply: sketchbook. And I have had the same artist tote since I FIRST started college after high school. It is a tackle box that has served me well for the 12 bucks I paid for it.
Squid… Drawing stirs the imagination. It, in my opinion, is a healthy way to express yourself… unlike many things our society has embraced. I won’t say what activities… but you can use your imagination.
Beetle B… water-sol paints is good… but even RED TEMPERA will stain. Be careful!
M. Lonie… OH YOU KNOW that Randie will get some sort of organizer this year… it never fails.
Grump…. those are the best kind! Made with the heart!
Jack… yah. My wacom has cut my use of bristol board but not entirely… and I ALWAYS carry a sketchbook. I’m like Linus and his blanket.
Grey… when I hit my 100th sketchbook, I threw a party. I gave away little sketchbooks (handmade) and told folks that if you bring this to every First Friday (when I open the office for said event), I will do a toon in it for your.
It was a hit.
Pete… Benjamin is very fortunate… You recognize his talent and support it. So many kids don’t have the support or encouragement of their parents.
And I often perform acts of art! See sketchbook comment.
