APE Weekend
Well, if you happen to be in the San Francisco area… and you likes the comics and graphic novels… and you like SQUID… come down to The Alternative Press Expo this weekend!
Squid will be rocking a table (#135) with Nicky510!
If you’ve not been to an APE before, it’s a more relaxed atmosphere compared to ComicCon or WonderCon… less costumes, more personable-ness, more ape. I exhibited last year… and have attended several. This event is not to be missed! Really… cool stuff!
So last year I met some pretty nifty folks… like My Cardboard Life creator Philippa Rice (this year: table 258) and a nice group of Lovesick Robot-ers (table 268)… They have traveled from afar to be at APE… Phil all the way from London, people! Yes, she has a cool Brit accent.
And Keith Knight, the Gentleman Cartoonist (table 221), and Bob the Angry Flower (table 200) … staples of the APE. Slave Labor Graphics (table 315), Last Gasp Books (table 320), and Top Shelf (table 231) are personal favs of mine in the book area!
So for this year, I have a new button maker… and I have a whole new line of buttons and button magnets (they look like buttons but really… they’re magnets)… and there are new glass dot magnets as well… with Max, Harold, Grace and the gang… woo hoo!
So what are you waiting for? Hop in the car and come to APE… San Fran isn’t that far from Saskatoon, right?
Lessee… Google Maps… Danbury, CT to 8th St, San Francisco… Shortest suggested route is 2,951 miles. Hmm. Guess I’d better start hitching…
