You Can Pre-Order Online Now…
Hello, my Squiddies… the time has come… you can now pre-order your very own copy of Squid Row: Welcome to the Neighborhood… the firstest, full-color, high quality, 128-page Squid Row compilation book! That’s right! And as a lovely added internet bonus… you’ll get a couple bucks off if you order before May 30th! Yee hooo! So head over to the Squid Shoppe and order your copy today*!
*when you click on an order button, your stuff appears in the cart at the very bottom of the page. You gats to scroll all the way down to see it… it’s weird, I know.
Wow, yeah! Nice cover art.
Ooh, argh! So many questions.
When is it expected to arrive at your door?
So how might a pre-order work if I’ll be able to swing through town to pick it up?…eventually…
Can you hold onto website purchases, and if so, for how long?
How much extra for an autograph?
Will there be a book release party? At the Cartoonery? At the Aquarium (argh, admission price)? At a local Borders, or Starbucks, or a City Hall, or a Visitor’s Center, or a Safeway, or a Vespa dealership or owner’s group office… http://born2scoot.org/ , or a library, or a posh hotel lobby, or a television studio, or a community golfcourse club house, or a fish market, or at some sort of food festival (asparagus, artichoke, garlic, lettuce, fried cat), or a theater lobby (you could do a projection slide-show revisit of your recent strips with live commentary on a big screen ala that animation festival of a ways back at your now-closed IMAX theater), or all of the above?
Hey, Judy could get her students to make up big batches of her killer cookies to sell for fund-raising.
Thanks.
Some answers:
-The books will come to me in June. It’s vague… but June is what I got at the moment. I will post when I know exactly.
– I will work with you if you have special shipping/non-shipping needs. Harold, who is in charge of shipping, will have to okay this, of course.
-I will autograph for free… if you want elaborate, highly-detailed and specific drawings, I may just have to charge ridiculously exorbitant prices… like any other ‘tooner.
-booksignings are in the works and will be announced when I have a date when I can expect books to arrive. It’d be silly to schedule before I know specifics. I will, of course, post online any and all parties (and you know there’ll be a party), signings, golfing expeditions, taste-testings and library outings as soon as dates are secured for such events.
Hi.
Oh, boy, autographs accompanying elaborate, highly-detailed and specific drawings…
I may just have to take you up on your Squid-centric, devotional fan art submission as barter.
I’m still thinking that you doing up your own animation/book-release festival in a local theater would be great. You could sell tickets that would include a narrated slide show of comics past to present, a book and perhaps, a wrapped cookie. Autographs could follow. You should see if can get underwriting (they pay for everything in advance, and afterward you pay them back directly (cash or future appearances/interviews) or indirectly (charity donations)) from some Cannery Row principles (Balesteri, Cutino), maybe the Monterey Harold newspaper, or a local radio or TV station (those folks love local interest news scoops). As a bonus plus, you can offer up table space and acknowledgement to other local art types.
Bye.
Thanks for the suggestions…
