Yak Show
YAK is a real organization… well, YAC is… Youth Arts Collective is an incredible after school program in Monterey for teens who are interested in the arts. Kids get help with their artwork, and direction for their artistic goals… Meg Biddle & Marsha Perry run the joint and are amazing people. And Meg’s a cartoonist!
They always throw an awesome art show… and it’s true, their munchies ROCK! Thanks Meg and Marsha! Do Art… Be Kind.
Marcia Perry does these incredible air brushed pieces…animals, fish, jungles. Very magical. YAC rocks!
That is too awesome! I’m jealous :)!
Randie had a lousy high school experience didn’t she?
In Fresno, where I grew up, the local community center offered summer youth arts programs where they mostly taught media and technique, I suppose in the hope that talent and imagination would follow. I learned to do magic with poster paints and might have gone on in art if not for so many competing interests. Regardless, I heartily encourage youth arts programs like this, especially in the face of school budget cuts in the arts.
I just can’t help but think a fine arts program would use correct spelling.
One of my pet peeves I guess…
Any event is great if they serve good food. Like the old gospel song, “When the rolls are served up yonder I’ll be there.”
Meghan- Yes, Randie hated high school. She was rather “plump,” had very few dates, and obviously, the Art Club was a total loss. (oh, wait, that was me…)
Luemas- Youth Arts Collective is the real organization or YAC as they call themselves. I wanted to call them YAK… because it’s just funny. (YAKster make me chuckle or even YAK-ers)… so I had to “K”oalition them…. probably not the best way to do that, but there it is. Sumi. (just kidding).
LOL! Love the reference there to “BHS” Brig!!
