Writing Sly
One can only take so many zombie movies until you just want a friggin’ love story… if there was a zombie love story, maybe there could be compromise?

I agree that there are just too many movies about zombies and the apocalypse coming out right now.( T.V shows as well!) Why not more fun films like, oh say, Midnight in Paris, or adventure films like Life of PI ?
The walking dead just does absolutely nothing for me.
love the way she looks in the fourth panel! actually, all they would have to do to accomplish a zombie love story is to do some minor rewriting of the “twilight” movies.
voila!
Warm Bodies, and Shaun of the Dead 😉
Those were the two I was going to suggest. We own Shaun of the Dead and will be getting Warm Bodies any day now from Netflix. Here’s the trailer: (Sorry for taking up space, but it’s EXACTLY what you were looking for, Brig.)

I’d love to be a fly on the back of that chair, looking over Randie’s shoulder at her sketchbook.
Which sends the perverse imagination off imagining a zombie movie titled “Summer Flowers.”
I highly recommend Rigamortis: a Zombie Love Story. It’s adorable, even if I don’t buy the whole ‘if we defend ourselves that makes us bad guys!’ line of thinking.
Pete,
Amor omnia vincit, or something.
squidman… It’s kinda funny… I notice trends in comics… I go to a few Cons a year (the ones that are less mainstream), and I see clusters of what’s on the drawing boards. Zombies were all the rage when I first started doing cons. I remember overhearing someone say at a recent con, “I’m glad to see that zombies are becoming a thing of the past”… hmmm. Steamy-punky is the wave of the future… so there will be steampunk zombies soon, if there aren’t already.
firedome… see Pete’s movie trailer… it’s kinda sweet. Cy, Pete… well-done… that’s the compromise! Although Ryan may disagree.
Yat… you and me both!
Mary… Hee hee… I’m thinking of that song “Summer Breeeze, makes me feel fine…” insert “brains” for “breeze” and you’ve got a summer hit!
Chug… the title makes me chuckle, Chug…
Beetle… hee hee! more hee hee!
Take a wild guess who Randie is drawing being devoured…
My favorite zombie movie is undoubtedly ‘White Zombie’, starring Bela Lugosi. After Romero came along the traditional voodoo zombie practically vanished from the big screen, but this classic gem still holds up as a creepy, beautifully shot masterpiece. No wonder Rob Zombie took the name!
Currently reading World War Z and liking it. Not going to see the movie, because by all indications it’s going to be terrible.
Liked the original Night Of the Living Dead; also Army Of Darkness, Shaun Of the Dead and Zombieland.
just saw the trailer…y’know, the mixing of genres is what drew me to hitchhiker’s guide some thirty years ago. it kinda works here, too. I mean, this ain’t your typical “boy zombie meets girl zombie” love story, as I anticipated. the addition of the troggs’ classic, “with a girl like you” was a swell touch, too.
looks like this one’s got legs, and they’re not falling off the hip-bones.
Ryan should accompany Randie to be a good sport but sleep through the movie. If he snores she can always poke him with her elbow.
Have to sympathize with Rye Bread, though. I haven’t seen even one zombie movie. Nor do I intend to. Of course, the last movie I watched in a theater was Lord of the Rings III.
Hmmmm, does World’s End (by the folks what did Shaun of the Dead*). count as a zombie movie?
How about R.I.P.D.?
The Auld Grump – Those are the movies that I am waiting for this summer….
*Best zombie movie ever….
Dada… I missed that one…. but I fears Rob Zombie… that guy is SCARY! Wait, “Last Man on Earth”… with Vinnie? not a fave?
firedome… agreed. It appears to be NOT be a “boy zombie meets girl… girl eaten by boy zombie” flick either. Hmmm… that might be construed in a bad way. Gutter heads… the conversation is UP HERE.
Michael… there does seem to be A LOT of zombie films out there. Oh… but the Orcs… they’re like zombies, right?
Grump… need to go investigate… ain’t seen’em.
