Thanksgiving
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, SQUIDDIES ALL! Have a joyous holiday whatever your events may be.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before… but it seems tragic that Thanksgiving always gets passed over on the way to Christmas. Gratitude and the acknowledgment of blessings such as friends and family… food, no matter the spread… and the joy of being alive… shouldn’t be forgotten. Oh… and pie… and the Snoopy balloon in the Macy’s parade… and whipped cream… oh, yes.
and a happy thanksgiving to you all!
The origins of Thanksgiving are kinda questionable. I mean, celebrate your harvest bounty with your newfound Indian friends, who basically saved your life, and afterwards… uh…
In any case, yes, gatherings of friends, family, multiple personalities (of assorted peoples or of just yourself) with something nice to eat and maybe some football, a broadway-staged parade, and a movie to watch are reasons to celebrate.
Happy Thanksgiving, may your unions and reunions be festive.
I hope that everyone has a very happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to all the american readers and to you too Brig of course!
I always found it strange that Canadians and Americans don’t celebrate Thanksgiving at the same time. In Canada it’s always in October (October 8 this year).
Happy and safe travel to all who are traveling to be with their loved ones!
Yes, Thank you for the Thanksgiving well-wishing… I hope you all had a wonderfully indulgent holiday! I spent it watching the Macy’s Parade, cooking, eating, laying low, then a walk, eating pie, and topping off the day with watching Miracle on 34th Street and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Aaaaa.
And Eprinc… in Canada, is Thanksgiving any different besides the date change? Do you watch Charlie Brown? Do you eat stuffing and cranberry sauce?
…and then Grace walked in the door…
My mate and our best friend and I will be celebrating Thanksgiving this Sunday. My mate was on call all week and our best friend had to work black Friday. So we have this weekend to look forward to the feasting. My mate is a wondrous cook and is already soaking the turkey in brine, (brinning makes it so deliciously moist you wouldn’t believe it). Our best friend will be doing a baked ham and I will be making an eggnog pie to contribute to the table.
Add in all the side dishes like long grain and wild rice stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie… etc… and we have the makings of a great meal. Just wish we actually had a car this year and my mate hadn’t been on call. My kids each invited us to their individual Thanksgiving parties.
My oldest threw her “Misfit Thanksgiving” on the actual day and my youngest is throwing a pirate themed Thanksgiving party on Saturday. If we could have swung it we would have hit two different parties plus our own. Talk about several days of feasting, now that would have been lovely!
Oh, and happy late Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it!
