Let’s see… an “open a can” Thanksgiving… or “Veggie” Thanksgiving with some of the gang… or the great unknown with Ryan and Emily? What would you choose?
Let’s see… an “open a can” Thanksgiving… or “Veggie” Thanksgiving with some of the gang… or the great unknown with Ryan and Emily? What would you choose?
Will she bring Mouse? Y’know. just so she has a date?
At any rate, Ryan and Emily should behave themselves, so that Randie doesn’t lose her appetite for the food. Until the trytophan from the turkey kicks in, at any rate.
Not a hard choice… I’d take Ryan and real meat.
Ummm… that didn’t come out right.
Thanksgiving is one of the holidays where I’m so glad to be an omnivore. Of course there’s also the Christmas Turkey, the Easter Ham, Hot Dogs/Hamburgers/BBQ Ribs on Memorial, Independence and Labor Days…
Astragali: there are FEW instances where Randie is without her appetite. That sort of thing comes from going hungry from time to time…. this is why Randie continues to eat at Beeb’s (the veggie cook pal) when, in fact, the food isn’t Randie’s thing. You don’t turn down food, any food, when you’re hungry.
Joe: Mouse will be sharing Thanksgiving with his, ahem, odd family. There’s that uncle of his.
Pete: Thanksgiving tasteys! My mom makes these candied yams that I have ADORED since I was a kid. They are so incredibly sweet with marshmallows, brown sugar and as pumpkin pie spice as possible! Oh… the joy! Besides the meat part (I’m a dark meater myself), what’s your signature dish!?
All,
Enjoy the holiday! Leaving tomorrow morning to see the folks in Wisconsin. Returning Sunday.
This’ll be interesting!
A thought: Since Ryan is Emily’s date for the dinner, does that make Randie the date’s date?
Brig: A fair point, there, regarding Randie’s empty tummy… I like veggies, myself (‘cept Brussels sprouts – ewww!)
And I think you’re the first person I’ve encountered who said they like dark meat (I prefer white meat, preferably breast meat if I can get it :D)
Brig: For Thanksgiving, I bring out my fruitcake. I know, I know, I’m one of only about four people in the world who actually LIKE fruitcake. But mine is a Dark Christmas Fruitcake (meaning the fruitcake is dark, not Christmas), that’s been wrapped in amaretto-soaked cheesecloth for over a month. After two or three pieces of that, you won’t care whether you like fruitcake or not. 😀
OH-OH-OH… I’m one of the four! I SOOOO LOVE fruitcake… and the darker the better! You can’t see, but I’ve gone and drooled all over my drawing table here. If there’s no fruitcake at Christmas, there’s no Christmas! Luckily, Mom usually sends me one every year. If you should wish to share your recipe, I could make my very own……????
