New Pal
I love me some Play-doh smell. Mmm… I do remember trying paste as a kidlet… and wondering where the thrill was. I wasn’t much of an experimental child… so this was a “step out” for me.

IIRC (and please do correct me if I’m wrong), the thing about paste eating is that it used to be made of animal parts, and therefore almost pure protein. For desperately poor children, it may have been the only accessible form of protein they saw all day.
(and cows are not cool. cows are noisy, filthy stink-beast escape-artists.)
Randie, you already know he’ll be eating any paste you give to him. Why get him hooked (er, stuck)?
“First one’s free, kid…”
Chug… hmmm… paste as nutrition for poor kids… hmmm.
Cows not cool? You aren’t 5, are you? (but, yes… they are stinky… but necessary). I don’t like eating them, though.
Dada… ha ha… before you know it, he’ll be eating two, three, ten jars a day… and then dealing in the little boy’s bathroom. Sad, so sad.
LSU’s baseball stadium is right down the street from their Dairy Science research farm. The most striking feature of the dairy farm is the cows and the stink they produce. I think you can like animals but not like the mess & stink that goes with them.
We had a couple kids who loved the paste. I don’t know where they are now, though. Probably cartoonists.
I loved the smell of Play-doh, but mostly Mom just made us the play-dough from scratch. Lots more colors and she could always make more, so we had a lot of fun! Until the Thing Maker came along, that it, and Play-doh was forgotten. *hehe*
Awww this is adorable…
(Yes glue tasting.. I have adults opening the little paste pot at work just to remember the smell of school day…)
(Not guilty of this)
(Ok just a bit)
@Brig – no, very much not 15 anymore. I did, however, grow up around cows, and now have a deep-seated vendetta against them. Hamburgers are revenge.
Yat… I just get a kick out of the fact that there is a Dairy Science Research… like a Milk Lab… people drinking milk… research cows standing around looking worried. This amuses me.
Pete… yah… glue eating tooners! (sniffs play-DOH!)
Val… GUILTY! You are GUILTY!
Chug… ha ha… cow vendettas…. just don’t go around tipping them. That’s just mean.
Hmmm… I do not think that I ever ate either Play Dough or Library Paste…. Which is odd, because I was also the kid that was always willing to try new foods.
Umm… I sometimes had a lamb’s tongue sandwich – you could fit three or four lamb’s tongues on a slice of bread, and I used to line them all up so that they faced the same way. Then, if someone was foolish enough to ask what I was having then I would open up the bread and go ‘bleah!’…. The sad thing is that I actually like the taste of lamb’s tongue, but the joy was in going ‘bleah!’…. 😛
The Auld Grump, but I never ate the paste….
Grump… um…. ewww. BUT, I’d be willing to try before I judge. I do like sardines… but I do draw the line at brains… I am not a zombie.
