Mission Statemen
I have had this toon sitting on my desk for probably months… Randie’s informal art group (where she first met Enid) needed some purpose.

Oh, fer art’s sake!
Hmm… Not sure I agree with Enid’s sentiment – I’d have that sort of short, snappy mission statement on a button or T-shirt… though in my case, it’d be “Drink soda, draw comics” 🙂
Looks like you’ve got your next store item, Brig! A button that says:
Drink Coffee
Make Art
If I ever have to be involved in creating a mission statement for an organization again, it will be too soon! Half a dozen people wasted weeks of time hammering out the most banal, meaningless dreck you have ever seen, which was dutifully posted to the membership and never seen or spoken of again.
Pete… Oh, yah! I just got a new button maker, too! New buttons are rolling out for APE… with the ever witty “FUH!” … and “Holy Mother of Peanut Butter” … and “Have you hugged your squid today? ” as well as some others… pin magnets too! I will flickr them soon. If you have an interest, email me…
Ooo… Kona: they didn’t craft a very good mission statement, eh? If I may ask, What was the company?
Drink soda, draw comics… that’d work Astragali.
JOe… art for art’s sake? Yah… that’s my sketchbook.
Sounds like Enid is trying to take over the group and turn it into a vehicle for her ego. These are three friends (presumably) who meet informally to talk and play around with art. What do they need a mission statment for?
Oh, no, no, Michael… Enid isn’t at all egotistical. Although the rest of your assessment it true… Enid is just a good-hearted, highly organized, philanthropic, get-things-done kinda person… Her fault may be that she is expecting too much from the Art-O-Rama group… all in all, she recognizes that Randie often means to do good, but doesn’t always act on it. So perhaps this is “a leading.” Read on…
Sorry Brig, no sale. You make Enid look like a busybody. And egotistical can go well with nominally do-gooding activities.
