Kona joe
Okay, kona coffee is every bit as good as it purports to be. I had a five dollar cup of peaberry coffee at cafe kona de pele today. It was hand dripped and was so smooth & smokey that I am rather smitten with it. It’s so expensive. Sigh. I might go broke getting my kona coffee fix.
I found the thing that makes kona coffee so expensive is the plane ticket to Kona. Somehow, it just doesn’t taste quite the same off-island!
this evening, squidman and i were talking about your trip and he said that you went to kona and not the big isle like he expected you to. i added that you did that because you enjoy coffee.
you know those looks one gets when one has told an especially bad pun? well..
Kona *is* on the big Island (Hawaii). The island with the most people (Oahu) is not nearly as big as Hawaii, but it is the most frequently visited, with Waikiki beach, the Pearl Harbor memorial, etc. and the most direct flights to SFO/LAX. Kona is on the western side (the dry side) of the big island (Hawaii).
Aloha-hi…again,…brig
(just sent a message to your earlier post)
Hope the Brig Island is treating yoos well.
Kona Black (roasted) may be expensive but Kona Gold (toasted) will cost you more.
Go ahead and wring out Harold from his drinkie-drinkie’s so he’ll be ready for some New Year’s Eve festiving, Tiki-style.
Sounds like your on the better end of your collective symbiosis…Harold gets drinks himself to sleep and you drink yourself awake.
Happy New Years…yahoo…parade with threatened occupiers…Go Niners.
Aloha-bye…stick
I just took a tour of an organic coffee plantation. I can respect the amount of time & energy that goes into a cup of kona coffee. Mountain Thunder Coffee is grown 3200ft above sea level with no pesticides. The coffee is tasty and the tour guide, Judy , was super knowledgable. I will of course share at first Friday in February( I closed for January).
Probably too late to be commenting on this thread, but I haven’t had a chance to keep up with my webcomics lately. Yes, my screen name is taken from my favorite coffee, which unfortunately I can’t afford any more. In my more fanatical days, I insisted on 100% kona; not “kona blend”, which is often mostly some other inferior coffee. I did try Jamaica Blue Mountain once, just to say I have. It’s a coffee lover’s wet dream. Or crack. Or something. It’s so good, you don’t dare taste it even once, because nothing else will ever satisfy you again.
My friend Pat Marsh sent me this link since she was mentioned on your Kona Tiki Adventure! I am not a pushy salesperson…promise….but I have a 100% Kona Coffee club…..as a side project. My club members get to try different coffees (all 100% Kona coffee selections) each month…so you get to experience a variety of tastes grown on different elevations and different roasts! Please ck out my webiste http://www.konacoffeeclub.org MAHALO!!!!
Kona & Kona Girl… “Crack Coffee” is a good way to put it. That SMOOTH cup of Kona coffee is one to jones over. For those who are curious, Kona Girl (ie Crack Coffee Pusher) is offering a “way in.” Be forewarned… once you’ve had the good stuff….
