Has Jazz
This weekend is the world famous Monterey Jazz Festival. Big names in the jazz world come here to Monterey to play… but the tickets aren’t cheap. Randie can only imagine … and sometimes that’s not so bad.
Now You Has Jazz is an excellent jazz number from the Bing Crosby movie, High Society. Louis Armstrong and Bing swing it… YouTube can help if you “has no jazz”…
A Bing movie without Bob? Sigh…there really IS no Hope.
Hey, at least she doesn’t get stuck in those long Port-a-Potty lines.
DadaH,
Actually, Bing had quite a few “Hope”=less movies.
The Philadelphia Folk Festival is held less then ten miles from our house each year. And like the MJF, tickets are mega-pricey. We could afford to take the kids once only because I’d helped one of the organizers retrieve the guest ticket she’d accidentally erased and she comped us.
I understand the business end of it, but it seems… wrong, somehow, that folk and jazz festivals are so expensive. More than other kinds of music, folk (by definition) and jazz are “core” music, completely up from the grass roots of the amateur musician looking to express their feelings to others.
Ha! Hope-less… I LOVE Bob Hope… you talk about a stand up guy! Bing’s voice was so smooth… I enjoyed the Bing-Astaire movies.
EofO… if Randie “has to go” there’s a soda can right there… (did I just say that?)
Pete… I don’t mean to rant, but I get annoyed by ticket prices… I hate elite-ism… but I often feel like “whoever has the most money wins”… and Jazz wasn’t elite-ist in it’s beginning… nor folk. Money ruins everything, dang it!
