Xmas Scrabble
Scrabble is big in my circles… and my words are rather unimpressive most of the time. We do play “special words – double points” when near a holiday or special event. Anyone else use any made-up rules with Scrabble?

Yes, I do, never let grandma near a scrabble game. She can made up word faster than I can identifiy them.
And there is also the fact that my little sister is kinda a Ryan, writer, editor and had a gig as translator for a medical dictionnary. Can’t beat her on medical term on a triple with lot o Y, X and H.
Now the theme word count double, that’s an idea… Will try it
How popular do you think Scrabble would have been if it’d kept the original name Lexiko? Of course, Lex thinks that’s the name it should have kept, but he’s slightly biased.
I like chess, but Scrabble could be fun for the yuks! I’ve never played it 🙂
All rules, are made up.
Should I be embarrassed to mention “dirty word scrabble” with one’s SO?
This is exactly what it’s like to play Scrabble with my family. Mom will grumble about how she has such a terrible assortment of letters … and then lay out all seven into something on a triple-word tile.
As much as I love word games, I gave up on Scrabble… Before you come over to burn the heretic, I’ll quickly explain why: WordOx (also known as WordSteal). Like Scrabble, but you steal each other’s points; you only play with one set of tiles; and when you play on certain squares, the board completely clears, and you get to carry on with a clean board! 🙂
No, I don’t have shares in the thing – I’m just an addict… Anyway, if you’re interested, you can play it online at http://wordsteal.com (you’ll need Java to play it, I think)
