Work And
Well, the time has come that Ryan is looking for his own place. But where? It’s funny, Judy and I actually went looking around a particular neighborhood, searching for the right place for our pal, Rye Bread. Artists need models, don’t ya know.
It seems the two cheapest places on the peninsula are Marina, and Pacific grove, at the top of David avenue, across from the country club shopping center. Meybe Ryan should look there.
Randie gets around. Choose your area wisely, Rye.
Squid… the trick is to find somewhere IN BETWEEN… If you live in Marine Layer, you are close to work… but not to Randie. One day, I’ll have to make a map of the semi-fictional, Cypress City and it’s surrounding areas. That could be fun.
Jack…Yes, wisely choose. It effects a good many things…. driving costs, recreationing… grocery-ing. There used to be a mini grocery store within walking distance from where I live. The local fella who owned it decided to close it… and now it’s empty… and I must motor to get my food-stuff. Poo.
Ah, three words: Location, location and location. Okay, maybe price too.
Hmm, in looking back through the early days of Squid Row, which I found myself visiting after yesterday’s comic, I learned that Randie used to live in a house that burned up due to the possible action of Twinkie (nothing was ever proved). Well, that was three years ago and the owner vowed to rebuild and keep it open for Randie’s return. So, has it been rebuilt yet?
A map of Cypress City and it’s neighbors (Marine Layer, Salad Bowl, Carmello by Sea) would certainly be fun and interesting too. What with the Monterey area being a tourist destination and all, there must be several ready maps floating about from which to model a comic version.
Hmm, doesn’t Sandoon City lie betwixt Cannery Row and Marine Layer?
Salad Bowl is actually Salinas City (which is what they used to call Salinas back in the day… Hilltown was another name before that). And Sandoon City is sandwiched in there… but Ryan wouldn’t live there… too much industrialness for his taste.
