Wild B Day
I love Where the Wild Things Are… the colors and the cross-hatching… such a wonderful book! And coincidentally, Maurice Sendak was just interviewed by Fresh Air.
Happy National Coffee Day, Everyone!

Happy Birthday Randie! Happy coffee day too! Maybe I should have saved the rewrite of “Imagine” for today?
Miss typed my name.
Happy Birthday Randie! Have a cuppa on me!
Happy Birthday!
I must proclaim that I am a big fan of Genesis and that I have a ordered box set of their biggest stuff to be delivered to my door. Please do not worry that I love Squid Row any less, but until Randie has her own theme and rock video… I must be true to my ’80s rock roots!
Happy Birthday, Randie!
I raise my coffee cup to you! Hmm… empty again. Oh well, nothing wrong with a fifth cup of coffee, right?
Thank you, all… Randie is having a wonderful day… she’s in a good place… imaginative and wild!
Joe… Genesis after Peter Gabriel?
Pete… there’s no shame in a 5th cup. No sir. Do you measure in actual cups? or by coffee receptacle… such as travel mug which carries a couple of cups at a time… because I might have had … a number of cups..
I wasn’t allowed to read the book as a little kid (probably deemed “too scary” by my mom, a sentiment shared by a number of publishers who initially rejected the book), but the artwork really is wonderful, both Sendak’s and your honorable rendition of it.
…and, I know we debated this before, but I have to say it again: I loved the movie version by Spike Jonze, and apparently Sendak gave it his blessings as well.
Hey, Brig!
I picked up one of those Keurig coffee makers for my office a couple weeks back, so now my “cup” of coffee is 10.5oz. I start off with regular, but shift to decaf after one (rarely two) cup. Too much caffeine gives my crippling migraines, so I pace myself.
Of course, being of the Lutheran persuasion, “pace” means fewer than six cups a day. Well… seven. Certainly no more than eight. And by eight, I mean nine cups; which rounds up nicely to ten cups…
I vaguely recall the book, yes, great illustrations, and have, but have not yet seen the Spike Jonze movie version…picked it up once in a bargain bin. Love how the wild world is in Randie’s apartment, along with the artistic license offered up to giant coffeeeeee cups.
Joe… When your Genesis mega pack arrives, you may consider doing up a Squid slide show (powerpoint?) to a backing track of your choosing. Sort of a Squid tribute 80’s rock video. Hey, it may make it into the fan art gallery.
brig… Nice job on the art. As Joe’s Genesis devotion leans to the ’80’s, Peter would have been replaced by Phil. The more commerically successful, but not necessarily better version.
Happy Birthday Randie!!! And many happy, caffeinated return of the day!…How many is this now? Or are artists ageless?
Brig, Stick,
Yes, Peter Gabriel is included in this set. It’s called: Genesis Live 1973-2007.
This is a massive collection that Amazon is selling. It covers live recordings from 1973-2007. 8 CDs and 3 DVDs. The only thing is, they don’t include the 2007 tour: Live Over Europe, because they think everyone and their brother already has the album and just provided an empty slot in the box set for it.

Many happy returns of the day!
Watch out for Wood Ticks!
Wood Ticks? I hate ticks! GAH!
Thanks all, for your kind wishes to Randie on her birthday!
And Joe… that set sounds amazing. When I think 80’s, I think of Phil Collins and Genesis…. (there are a few other bands, too…. but Genesis was pretty up there… like The Police).
Stick…. you need to go to the library and find “… Where…. Wild Things…” It’s a classic and your life will be enriched by it!
Pete… your Lutheran Coffee Habits scare me. Drink enough water!
Dada… I am sorry that you were banned from enjoying “Wild Things”… you know it NOW, though. I wish someone had banned scary movie commercials on tv when I was a kid… I never saw the movie Phantasm or the Exorcist… but the commercials were WAY SCARIER than a silly little kids book with jovial and or depressed monsters.
