If true art is suffering then people should come around my workplace about 3 AM when the bars let out. I’ve worked some variant of fast food for over a decade. The people behind the counter would make H.R. Geiger’s skin crawl with our misery some nights! That said the worst has to be any kind of automotive registry. Talk about unhappy people!
Just don’t let the grumpy folks catch you drawing them. Some people get testy over being sketched, and these tired folks will likely take it even worse (luckily there’s doctors nearby if you take a beating)!
Sorry folks, but you all live in the wrong place. My local DMV office is friendly, and seldom crowded. Seriously, if there are more than four or more people in line, that’s busy. I’ll leave and come back later.
Yeah qka, you might just want to head out. I have never been to the DMV in my town where the line wasn’t out the door and part way round the block and took over an hour to move more than one or two people through. Not a fun place to visit in my town. Oh, and did I mention that they only have miner bench seating so it’s either stand in line or sit on hard unyielding wooden seats.
qka, I must be in the same state as you! Oregon except for Portland and Salem, some of the local bigger cities….most DMV you are in and out in minutes. 4 people in line, its crowded, I’ll come back later.
Chug: TRue! Sometimes, I do “edit” in case someone should find my sketch book and trespass.
Trev: this would make for very interesting sketch booking. But I’d probably not want to look at it afterwards. I find that my sketchbook can make me happy or sad upon looking at what I’ve drawn. I can’t look at the sketchbooks when my Dad was passing away.
Jim & Mike… Randie is always “a little off” yah? Anyhow… I think she’s extra loopy… adrenaline and lack of sleep.
Dada… location-location-location. If this were a bar…. she might be in trouble.
Pete & qka & Gramy … California DMVs are horrid places. I’m glad that your state, qka, wherever that is, isn’t like CA DMV. Hard benches are poopy!
Sidenote… I was scheduled for jury duty yesterday… and was uncalled upon… yay! So no sitting around useless between important stuff.
chase… you got any to share?
Jack… Oh, yah… the Post Office… there’s usually only two people running the counter, and by the time you get to the front, one of them leaves for lunch.
Heather… you are most fortunate. Don’t take this for granted! Honestly… it’s a gift from God!
For artists and writers, there are few experiences so inconvenient that they can’t be turned into material.

A clue. She felt all weird.
LOL! I always felt too self-conscience about sketching other people in misery!! Is it the lack of coffee that is making Randie so brave?

DMV lines in ANY state…

Ooh, 4am doodles are the best.

The hospital waiting room, the DMV, the line at the post office, these are the worst places.

Sorry for the late replies, Squiddies!
