What I Like
Summertime, and the living’s easy… well, fun anyway. Marshmallows are extraordinary… I’d go so far as to say… that they are a staple for beach bonfires. And I had an amazing BBQ pork sammich recently at The Courthouse Cafe here in town. I don’t do pork very often, and so it was extra nifty.
So this toon begs the question… What do YOU love most about summer?
Don’t forget S’mores!
M-m-m-m S’mores…
I prefer the winter actually. 😀 Being “well-padded” I hate the heat, and being nocturnal I prefer the time of year where the nights are longer, not the days.
Yeah, I’m a freak.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.
Dollar-a-scoop (w/ no tax) Tuesday night cones at Baskin Robbins.
Thrifty (brand) ice cream from Rite Aid, get a cone at the ice cream counter and then take a carton home from their freezer to yours.
Ah yes, outdoor summer weenie roast, barbecue and marshmallow memories. As I understand it, Carmel does still allow fires and cooking, yeah, but alas the Sacramento six screen drive-in no longer permits parking lot barbecues, boo. On a plus side, you can order a pizza, take back a magnetic numbered cone to stick on the roof of your car and the pizza will be delivered to you when ready.
Asylum beach?
Is it named that because it’s a safe refuge, a quiet sanctuary, or a place of chaotic bedlam with insane people running amock while waving sticks with burning marshmallows stuck on them?
uh… ment to say (write)… Carmel does still allow fires and cooking on their BEACH. Not the whole beach, but a decent sized chunk of it.
I’m hosting a D and D/BBQ today. I LOVE summer!
Joe… No… one cannot forget smores! I love graham crackers and dark chocolate together! Mmmm.
Grey… to each his own… I like many aspects of each of the seasons. Hot chocolate tastes better in the winter time.
stick… yah… that is a lovely treat… Mint and chip anything is awesome… your fav flavor?
… and yes, Carmello By the Ocean will let you start fires near the water.
Asylum Beach… yes, a refuge from … marshmallow stick waving peoples… but not from tourists.
Jack… Yay! That sounds swell! What’s on the grill?
A hammock, a big glass of limeade, and a good novel.
Salinas. Summer isn’t really all that noticeable.
brig… Hmm, Ice Cream favorites.
Thrifty (brand): Pistachio (with pistachio nuts inside), Coconut Pineapple.
B-Robbins 31: Baseball Nut (vanilla with raspberry sauce and cashews).
Here’s Baskin Robbins photo album…

mischugenah,
For summer reading, a trashy novel is usually better.
monterey’s famous overcast skies all summer long while the rest of the country bakes!
BeetlesBane– Can’t argue with that!
When I lived in Arizona, it was swimming for 12 hours a day. In California, it was hitting Huntington Beach four times a week. In Hawaii, it was hitting the beach most days and six-ten hours of SCUBA diving every week.
Now that I’m in Pennsylvania, summer doesn’t have a lot of appeal to me. And since I can no longer safely swim in public, I can’t even hit the beach. On the up side, we’re starting our kids in SCUBA class this fall, so hopefully NEXT summer will have lots of weekends diving the OBX.
My favorite season is the autumn. My second favorite is winter.
Chug… oh… hammock! I used to have one as a kid… and a novel… I think I read one of those.
EofO… yah… except the days ARE longer.
stick… impressive ice cream link… reduced fat, no sugar added truffle… wow, if I could eat ice cream, I’d try that.
Beetle… how trashy? Sounds like something Jimmy Chow would read.
Firedome… How ’bout it! I won’t complain about the fog! No sir! I’ve been in 120 degree weather! It’s no fun!
Pete… I spent some time in Huntington Beach… I remember it fondly. I didn’t go swimming much… but I did like the sitting by the ocean.
You had some serious storms come thru recently, non? Summer is quite different back East. Muggy… warm… sticky… rainy. In Ohio, the grass is green in the summer and not green in winter. In Calif, the grass is green in the winter and not green in the summer (unless you water).
