Waffles
At the time I wrote this toon, I was craving waffles something fierce. I do love me some whole wheat/grain waffles slathered in fake butter and topped with sugar free, low-cal syrup. I know what you’re thinking… and I don’t mind. I feel better if it’s “healthier”…
Gawdammit, now I want waffles! I hope Eggo paid you good money for that endorsement!
Dada… I will warn you ahead of time… I’m doing some donut shop toons now. I will try to remember to give you a heads up so you can plan ahead next time. I’m sure you’ve been to Psycho Donuts in San Jose, yes?
As soon as I read this, I wondered if it was payback on Dada for the pizza ting … seeing as how he posted first, suspicion confirmed. 😀
Raspberry waffles with syrup AND whipped cream! Most decadent things you’ve ever eaten.
Just give me some plain old hot -buttered waffles witheither good old fashioned hardcore maple syrup, or home made jam on them.
I could eat theese all day!
Radio host Tom Griswold (of the Bob & Tom Show) doesn’t like waffles because “you have to think too much”.
He’s a bit of a weirdo.
Believe it or not Brig, but fake butter is NOT healthier than real unsalted butter. Many of those margarine’s that tout being better for you than butter have more in common with plastic (some actually have some of the exact same ingredients as plastic) than they do with real food.
Also depending on what the specific ingredients of that low cal syrup are, it too may actually be less healthy than real maple syrup. Most if not all of the low cal sweeteners are actually carcinogenic and are far worse for you in the long run than simply ingesting plain old sugar.
But yes, now I too want waffles and I’m going to go have some with real unsalted butter and real maple syrup.
(This health announcement brought to you by the supporters of real food. It’s better to educate yourself on what the effects of supposedly healthful ingredients are rather than buy into the hype of the people getting rich touting the benefits of their fake products.)
Waffles with chicken???
I’m immune to the waffle craving. We had “brinner” on Tuesday night, which is having breakfast for dinner. And on the menu was… WAFFLES.
I don’t even bother trying to hide behind healthy. I don’t have waffles too often so I’m going to enjoy them! This time around it was real butter and just enough powdered sugar shaken on to the top of each waffle. Three slices of bacon on the side and chocolate milk to drink.
NUMMIES!
Grey… mmm… pizza.
Chug… THAT’s Dessert! I am embarrassed to say that when I visited Belgium, I did not have a single waffle. Oh, the shame.
squid… your homemade jam is awesome!
uwg… I’ll say!
Pasha… thank you for your Fake Food Health warning… I do the fake syrup because I do have some sugar issues. So the Low-sugar syrup fills a need… the fake butter… I understand… I know that real butter is tastier… but I do get the made with olive oil butter stuff. Um… I know that probably doesn’t do me any good… but I like my girlish figure. Okay, your turn to beat me up.
Fuse… I don’t think I get the chix/waffle thing. I try not to think about it.
Pete… Oh MY!
Yah… I try to limit Donuts… they can become a habit if I am not careful. Waffles I can do without overdoing because of all the, um, whole grain, fake stuff I use… but I don’t need to have all the whipped cream and stuff.
… but mostly I do oatmeal in the morning. Waffles are a sometimes Sunday treat.
