Valentines
Happy Squiddy Valentine’s! I send out my happy virtual choco heart to you all!
I had fun with this toon. It’s rather soap-opera-ish. Mouse is sweet on Randie, who is sweet on local French guy, Jacques…whose Alsace fruitcake impresses Midge who is unhappy in her longtime relationship to Gabe who will certainly be lonely tonight….
Happy (Saint) Valentine’s Day.
Well, two fantasy romances ain’t bad. I’d have thought that the third panel would have Jacques making googly eyes and popping heart shapes over an attractive catering client or the like; boy (boss)-Randie, Randie-second boy (boss), second boy-second girl (boss), kind of like a relay race baton hand-off with one of the two being in charge. Instead we get two fictions followed by one fateful reality. Ha. Who knows, that pizza may be one of those heart shaped pies (they pinch the crust to make a heart shape) that Pappa Murphy’s is advertising for Valentine’s. It might not be chocolate but, hey, at least its in the shape of a heart. And even if not in the shape of a heart, at least it’s got heart.
Happy Valentines Day Brig!
Psst, the past is past because it’s passed (hint, hint). π
My sweetie and I are having a Valentine’s date a day late. We’ve been married for 30 years, but it’s still fun to have a dinner and movie date a few times a year. It keeps us young while our kids make us old.
So, in keeping with the red theme, we’ll be eating at Longhorn’s Steak House (steaks medium rare). Afterwards we’re going out to see the latest Die Hard movie, which has lots of red blood AND is set in Russia.
We might instead see the ZomRomCom “Warm Bodies”, but we both love Bruce Willis. π
Jacques and Mouse’s Mom can use an introduction. More hearts.
Television, pizza and beer will go over great with Grace and Rat.
Joe… Welcome, it’s been a long time.
Prophet… Yeh, if you can let it pass. Otherwise it’s current constipation.
Pete… Nice. Two Valentine’s days, real and observed. Gotta balance out that kid effect. Double Nice, snuggling up in a theater to the over-amplified explosions and carnage of Die Hard 5. Or, wait, what’s that? A Zombie Romantic Comedy? Ahh. Maybe some pizza and beer?
I’m not planning on much of anything myself. Will see what happens.
Joe… and to YOU! Smiles and hugs!
Prophet… yes, yes…. I’m sure that eye-rolling and tsk-tsk-ing is goin’ on. It got past me… or passed me… or whatever. Sigh.
Pete… Friday is better for the Smoochy Valentines thing… Thursday is still a “work nite” and so a postponed “love day” is acceptable for sure.
As for Die Hard… it’s just not the same without Alan Rickman. (Hey… how come he’s not SIR Alan Rickman? WHat’s up, Queen? Don’t you like AR?) … anyhow… Steak and a movie… have fun! Do you like your meat bloody then?
stick… heart-shaped pizza would have been nice… if there was any left… since Gabe didn’t offer, there ain’t none left in the box. Bummer of a Valentines Day for Midge. No chocolate, no pizza, no loving feelings.
Speaking of that last panel, I had an alternative line there (which might have solved the whole “past” thing… it was Gabe handing Midge some cash and saying ” here’s a five, go out and get yerself one.”
ZomRomCom… Nothing says love quite like a mouthful of warm brains.
brig… The typo is no big thing. It kinda’ fits Gabe. As for Midge, the day is just like any other day. No falling victim to crass commercialization for Gabe. Yes, the wonders of a comfortable relationship.
Thank you. Just checking in to see if everyone is doing fine. I do keep up with the comic, but not all of the comments. Keep up the smiles!
As for what Grace and Rat are up to…well, use your dark imagination.
stick… bwains.
Joe… I’ll smile if you smile.
Dada… Ha! Yah… Um… I’m picturing it… and I’m sorry I did… Blecht!
For the record, I sent her a dozen chocolate roses, each wrapped in red foil and mounted on a plastic “stem”. She surprised me with an edible bouquet of pineapple hearts, strawberries (half chocolate-dipped, half not) and grapes.
Dada/Brig – careful what you wish for, this dirty old mind could handle it, and probably bring popcorn. π
Grey… awwww…. pineapple hearts!? YUM! and strawberries! Sumbody wuvs you!
… and popcorn would be appropriate… but uh… it IS kinda weird picturing it with my creator’s eye. Dada’s already drawn it by now.
And he’s not sharing? Jerk probably has it hidden in the same drawer as my BC cheesecake. I’ll just keep searching until he finds a better way to lock his windows … ::snicker::
