Twinkie Waits
Every morning, there are hundreds of birds that take up residence on the telephone lines that run along my back yard. I call it “the little birdie social club”… although sometimes doves and crows join in. There are a lot of neighborhood cats licking their chops around 7am. Light meat or dark meat?
Can’t climb no higher.
A birdie on a wire.
Get me down from here.
Bird hunting is hard
When snow turns into hard ice.
Head for KFC.
Cats who chitter- chatter: Chattering is an involuntary reaction of a cat who sees something she wants very badly – a fluttering bird or a feline enemy – but can’t get to for some reason, such as being on one side of the window when the bird or other cat is visible on the other.
If the keyed-up cat could pop her knuckles or chew gum to let out that extra energy, she would. By the way, a cat that’s wound up is best left alone. A little redirected aggression could leave you with some nasty claw tracks on your arm!

Also, today is Cézanne’s 172 birthday and google has some cool “google” cover art in his style.
Stuck on a rooftop
A bird-filled wire within sight
Sadly beyond reach.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind seeing Twinkie eat some crow. Just not the bird kind.
love it, reminds me of the seminary days when the bluejays would sit and wait for bees or anything else they could mess with as they sat on the lines. They would actually grab bees in mid air from a bee’s nest on the corner of the building.
Happy New Year by the way.
Oh, I have such talented squiddies. Love the poetry, friends!
Carl… jays are entertaining, aren’t they? I love the local scrub jays (a lovely blue and gray sort). When I lived in Aptos, they were rather plentiful. (And as an important sidenote: Congratulations of “Fella of the Year”… many kudos and deservingly so!)
Stick: Yes, I have witnessed the chittering cats here at home. Usually occurs when Sassy is on the inside of a window looking out.
And, yes, Happy Birthday, Cezanne… although I couldn’t find many celebrations going on in his hometown of Aix (I visited last summer)… maybe the internet is keeping secrets.
Sums up the life of a self-employed artist pretty accurately.
Namely the “drooling” part.
It’s Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday today, too… Maybe Twinkie could catch a raven!
Mark, undisputed master of the segue (in his own head)
And Poe has 30 years on Cezanne; but Google didn’t bother with him.
[Sorry about the unaccented e but my keyboard won’t generate the code.]
Beetle & Mark… stay tooned a few weeks from now…. I have an interesting reference… sunday-2 out.
