Travels With
Living in Steinbeck Country, you can’t NOT know about certain milestones and anniversaries. Travels with Charlie… what an adventure… and an intense investigation. Ryan should do this. I think that thought has crossed his mind… Sister Bernie Hot Wheels and Ryan combing America. Travels with Bernie.
Does Harold get a vote on this?
I love that Randie has not put ears or a new eye on Harold. He’s just fine the way he is.
Well, Randie, fond of Harold as she is, still recognizes that the real owner of Harold is still out there. To change the little stuffed “thing” would be taking ownership. However, Randie HOPES that the little kid will never materialize and will remain in her possession always. I think it would break her heart if she had to give “Property of Harold” (or Bun Bun as we recently found out) back to Harold, the kid who owns’im.
Brig,
Thank you for reminding me that “Bun Bun” is the “Property of Harold”.
You are right in yesterday’s comments about kids that age not caring about gender.
They assign names to pets/toy dolls as they see fit. My Grand Niece(God, I feel old at 50) had her 4th birthday this year. Many moons ago I bought a large doll and waited until I thought she was old enough to take care of it. I am a big anime fan and this doll was: Arale from the Dr. Slump series. When I gave it to her, she decided that the doll’s name was: Sarah.
Oh, well… I still got one more Arale doll sitting on a high shelf.
Yaay for Sunday comics!
If you enjoyed ‘Travels with Charley’ then I very highly recommend a comic series done by my friend, the late Phil Frank, called “Travels with Farley” (later known as simply “Farley”). Lots of very funny stuff with animals, silly politics and bizarre but gentle humor.
As for Harold, well, here’s hoping he gets to see the world.
Interestingly enough, I received(read: picked out and my sister bought for me) a copy of Travels with Charley for my birthday!
I really like the backgrounds in this one.
Brig: Great… another Steinbeck book to read 😉 Thanks 😛 (hee hee)
As for kids not caring about gender (of stuffed animals?), I always have… It’s odd, though. Out of the cuddlies I have now, at the age of 39 (all recently reunited, too!), there’s a pink pooch I have. When I was trying to figure out the gender, my new acquisition somehow had a sort of “male” facial expression. So male he became – and was named Valentine (because that’s the season Target released him for). Don’t ask, because I don’t have an answer 🙂
Meggie: Thanks. The backgrounds are based on a park in Pacific Grove. It is near the recreation trail that runs along the ocean. I used to walk my pooch, Mocha, along the rec trail everyday when I lived in that neck of the woods. Enjoy the Steinbeck, Meg & Astragali.
Dada: I will check that out… Did you actually know Phil? He was a favorite local toonist there in San Fran. The Cartoon Art Museum has some of his originals. I liked his art very much.
Cute assortment of stufts there, Astragali.
New things to look up: Travels with Farley and Dr. Slump. Smiles!
For my write-up on Phil, read here:

The comic is my standard weirdness, but the blog below should tell you what you need to know about the guy.
Touching write-up, Dada. You were most fortunate to know him!
