When I attended UC Santa Cruz, there was a Bike Co-op on campus. It was quite an operation. Bikes are huge in Santa Cruz in general… there are lots of second-hand bike shops and what not in town. My own bicycle was purchased from a fella whose garage was turned into a bike shop.
But Hans here was based on my remembrances of the “Bike-heads” up on campus.
And check out Fort Collins, Colorado, too, for a bike friendly town. They have a “bike library” where you check out bikes like you would books. And the New Belgium Brewery Company (http://www.newbelgium.com) is renown for their use of bikes. Every employee gets a custom made one on their first anniversary. They’re most popular beer is called “Fat Tire”, after the big tires on the mountain bikes.
Well, let’s see. A new frame, new tires, handlebars, derailleur … Sounds like the hammer that lasted 50 years – two replacement heads and 5 handles. Yup, it’s a new bike.
I am familiar with Fat Tire… not that I drink it… but Gosh… they is right nifty for giving away bikes! Randie ought to find some employish-ment there… although, I doubt that she is willing to relocate.
Yah, Crow…practically a new bike.
What more can you ask… A work of art that you can hang on the wall or get on and ride. A work of art that gets your heart rate up and blows your hair back. Sorry, I’m a bike nurd too.

Dang, Crow, you beat me to it! 🙂
Ah, I miss having a bike – but I still haven’t got up enough courage to ride on the opposite side of the road to what I’m used to… Guess I’ll be sticking to the buses for a while longer!
I’m still scrimping for a Fuji Touring. Though we’re just getting to the point where the snow’s off the road anyway!
Sigh, I miss bike riding. Rode till i was 56, then a minor stroke ruined my sense of balance. Enjoy it while it lasts folks, and make good memory’s for when you are sitting by th window on a sunny day, its WORTH it! 😀
