Never got to *that* tower, but I do have pics I took myself of the Leaning Tower in Italy. Italian army loaned us a bus and a driver to drive us in and see the tower, then drop us off downtown where a half-dozen semi-guided walking tours started.
I say “semi” because you didn’t have a guide or anything but a map at the starting point showed the routes, there were markers along the way, and major landmarks had info kiosks at them. Was pretty cool.
It was really, really big. The kind of ‘big’ that you don’t really understand until you’re standing under it, looking up, and saying ‘holy crap, that’s big’.
Towers a plenty in France… Old towers… Semi old tower… And new towers… In La Rochelle (where I am now) they have very old towers on the water. Tour de la Lanterne, Tour la Chaine, and Tour Ste. Nicolas… Not nearly as high as Tour Eiffel….
I took a series of pictures while at the top of the tour Eiffel, sort of a panorama of Paris. It came out rather well.
It was a windy day while I was there. I found out that the tower actually moves with the wind slightly. Pretty cool.
that second panel … ride the elevator to the top on one side of the river, then down to the other shore. world’s coolest, if least practical, pedestrian bridge
