Okay, that’s pretty creepy. I mean… opening up an artist’s brain to the unprotected environment?? Ideas will run rampant! Creativity will run amuck! Desire for more paints will run traffic lights!
The imagery here is most creepy. At first glance, without reading the caption, it appears that Rye’s pulling gray matter out of a zombie Randie.
Then on finding that he’s checking her coffee level, its kinda surprising seeing how long that dipstick is, and imagining how deep her well must be. She may well qualify for the gigantic Starbucks drink that I put a link to here about a week ago when this strip had coffee bowls. In it a guy showed up with one of those Mega Big-Gulp sized travel mugs and ordered up a blend of 48 shots of espresso, a banana, some sauces (caramel I think), and I don’t remember what else. Still, downing 48 espressos at one go is impressive even if they are fru frued with cream and the like.
There seem to be a whole lot of coffee shops in this strip with one (or more) always a short distance away. They make it kind of disorienting because everytime a coffee fill up is mentioned its always to a different place than before and before that. Any chance that you can do up a map one Sunday depicting the locations of all these assorted coffee shops?
Rollickers is just around the corner from the Cartoonery. Ping Brig before you head into Steinbeck Town, if you are lucky she will meet you at Rollickers for a cuppa joe.
stick… the fella who ordered the most expensive coffee ever ordered was using his “free coffee on his birthday” drink (if you sign up with Starbucks gold star thing)… anyhow, I expect there will be a “limitation” now on what your free drink entails. Thanks free birthday coffee drink-abuser guy. HOWEVER… Starbucks got free advertising out of it…. like they need it.
A coffeehouse map? …hmm… The Sunday toon ain’t big enough. Maybe a poster though.
JC… Rollick’s is my back-up office. My office don’t come with tasty bean juice and beverages… so I wander. And I can’t turn down coffee. No sir.
Firedome… ha ha… that guy is pretty nutty. I’d say he has a habit, alright.
… and it’s hard to get excited about tea…. but the little public service announcement tried, didn’t it?
I did not know that Starbucks’ big record setter got his coffee for free, it was not mentioned in the stories I heard and read. So thanks for that. Seems like he found a loophole. There are always folks out there trying to “work” weaknesses to their favor. Anyway, I was just thinking that the sheer size of his 48 espresso extreme frappuccino would be a good filler upper for Randie. Yeh, first the fill up and then the head explosion.
JC… Hmm, coffee fill ups by the quart. Happy to hear that you provide brig a second home…or is that office?
dome… Wow, a proponent of coffee AND tea! You’re like a cat AND dog person.
Dada… Yeh, good thing she’s not around to experience the pain of it all.
a little bit of background on the vids- the guy doing “caffeine zombie” is a member of the s.f. comedy troupe “duck’s breath mystery theatre”, kind of a “firesign theatre light”, if you will. i’ve been a fan of theirs since the early ’80’s.
“take tea and see” goes back to 1959, when it first aired on t.v. i remember it airing fairly frequently until sometime in 1962, but after that, not so much. not so much a commercial, either, more like a promo, as it’s not advertising any particular brand.

SHOW MERCY!!!!
What should have come out were moths… but that’s for another toon. Hee hee.

Rollicker’s AKA Rollick’s is our go-to java juicer. We’ve been regulars since opening night, over 10 years ago.

firedome: That PSA was rather brilliant. I’m sad I was born just before the nineties, and advertising decided it had to be “rad” and “with it, yo”.
