In today’s TIDBITS: Did Jaq and Gus ever show up anywhere else other than Cinderella? Yes, as a matter of fact. Of course they were in the “do I REALLY want to watch this” so-called-sequels to Cinderella; II & III. On film, they appeared with Donald and Daisy and also appeared (in much larger size) in one cartoon with Mickey. But they also crossed media to comic books and in “Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories” we find they lived with Donald’s grandmother.
Also, in today’s TIDBITS: Gus (and Jaq and Bruno) were voiced by Jimmy MacDonald, who worked many years with Disney. Four of his more well known characters were Chip (from the Chip & Dale cartoons), Humphrey the Bear, Evinrude (the dragonfly on the movie “The Rescuers), and none other than Mickey Mouse in over a dozen cartoons.
In tomorrow’s TIDBITS we’ll learn how I use this “tidbits” ploy to suck people into my own writing for both my web comic and my scifi novels. (Here endeth the plug.)
Any ol’ way… I imagine she just gets what’s on sale. I like the ones in mustard. I suppose Randie likes them all… especially the tomato sauced kind, since I hate those!
You sly dog!
Your TIDBITTING is most interesting. You seem to know a lot about Cinderella’s little mice. But I forget, you are a former “Mouse-r.” You would know Disney stuff! Were you one of them trivia competitors? The ones that went to the Disney trivia contests?
Well… the info I’ve been sharing about Gus and Jaq are actually from IMDb and Wikipedia. Being an IT Professional since 1984 means I’ve learned a LOT about searching online; even BEFORE the World Wide Web. (But NOT the Internet, which started in 1969, the same year the first CD was cut.)
But, yes, I am one of those trivia people, though I never entered a contest. Which isn’t entirely true. Since the Disney look is so clean cut, back when I was a Cast Member at Disneyland, I’d go backstage behind Main Street to fill out apps to get on the game shows. (Remember all those terms?) Turns out I never qualified because I got too many RIGHT. *sigh* Oh, well.
So I know lots of useless but interesting tidbits, factoids, and answers. As a novelist, it adds a lot of spice to my stories.
Poor Randie. I hope she gets her old house back eventually (perhaps with a new landlord as a housewarming present) I was oddly fond of her crummy backyard.
Other than that, nice details in today’s strip :D!
Thanks for the compliment…
Yah, I think at some point, Randie will miss her backyard, too…. probably in the spring when it’s fun to garden. Maybe she could get a windowsill garden? Like herbs or something… her place is sadly lacking plant life at present… hmmm… could be a whole storyline… yay, ideas!
… and as we all know, spice is the variety of life… (or something like that!)
I continued working for the mouse after my stint at Disneyland… I worked at The Disney Store for a while (until I just couldn’t handle the polyester anymore!!!) and we had a BIG trivia gal who worked at the store… she went on to the regional finals… I was always impressed with her Disney trivia knowledge… me, I can’t keep facts in my head for long… they just tumble out before they have a chance to stick to any brain matter… which is sad. So I like those sites that give knowledge… places where I can research stuff and not have to keep it in my head.
… and yes, I remember those Disney terms…
Yay, Saskatoon! Rather nice to come across a reference, though of course I wasn’t around when you made it at first. Nevertheless, I thought I’d take the opportunity to let you know I’ve been going through the archives (here, at least) for the last few days. Came here from Nicky, which I also just found the other day. Obviously I’m not caught up yet, but I will get there!

How does Randie like her sardines? The big ones, 4 to a tin, or the tiny guys?

Gotta love sardines and spam! Breakfast of champions right there!
Randie would agree… I might hold off the processed meats ’til lunch.
