In cases like this, it’s only creepy if you let it be. Always think the best of people in the circumstances and you’ll do all right. For Randie, the guy was… a wee bit off the normal path, but he may have very good reasons. *hehe* I was thinking it might be Mouse, but Randie’s been over to his place before, so she’d know.
Just for the record, unless the service was abysmally rude or incompetent, I always overtip. Just good karma. I worked in service stations a lot in my early days, when there was no such thing as self-serve. I pumped the gas, wiped the windows, checked the oil and the air in the tires, etc., all for minimum wage and I never once got a tip. It just wasn’t done back then.
Amazing how money can make folks rosier. If someone is poor and acts strange, he’s crazy and objectionable. But, if someone rich, or at least a good tipper, acts strange, well, then he’s eccentric and accommodatable.
stick… notice that Randie still uses “creepy weirdo” at the end. And giving a fiver does not make one rich… it makes one a good tipper. And there’s nothing wrong with tipping well, or enjoying a big tip.
Zappa was prolific and seemed to do pretty good for himself, at least in his later years, so folks, fans and retailers at least, would have found him to be eccentric over crazy.
Oh, and loved the names he gave his four kids… Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen. Ha. Crazy names, or eccentric ones?
Amazing how an attitude can turn on a fiver, innit?

I hope we “see” more of this guy and his story.
it’s jimmy chow 😉
How did Randie pass the coffee through the crack in the door? With a straw?

The comic dork in me is hoping that it’s the legendary artist recluse Steve Ditko, but at this point who can say?
Yay! Brig does a mystery!
EofO… it’s true… sometimes a smile, a kind word, or a large tip can just turn things right around.
Pete… what’s behind door number 1? (dead solicitors).
Cy… or Jimmy Chow!
Yat… she left the goods at the doorstep, like the milk man…
Kona… A cheerful giver is a blessing!
Dada… “Privacy… I want privacy! … and and I wanna make comics! So leave me the *&&# alone!” says reclusive cartoonist.
… and Randie’s price is a fiver.

I’m reminded of a quote of the late great Frank Zappa that applies strongly to my own life:
“I never set out to be weird. It was always other people who called me weird.”
uwg… did Zappa say anything about being creepy?
uwg & brig…
