More often than not, video gaming should be like Bowling in Needles.
When I was in and around 20 years old, I lived in Anaheim. (Where Disneyland is.) Summers in southern California could get hot and boring, but my friends and I always found something to do.
When we got REALLY desperate, though, we’d ask each other, “What should we do?”, and the idea of last resort was, “Let’s go bowling in Needles.” Needles, CA was a desert town in the middle of nowhere, located over 100 miles from any town bigger than it’s 4,000 population. To go there was the ULTIMATE in “nothing to do.”
“Bowling in Needles” is what video gaming should be when you’re on vacation, Mouse!
INTERESTING TIDBIT: A couple years later, when three of us were over 21, we went to Las Vegas for a weekend and on the drive home DID go bowling in Needles. I still have a souvenir t-shirt from “Riverrat Bowling Alley, Needles, CA”, though the alley is long since gone.
Yuuuup. So many times I’ll be working on a comic and have some old Basketball game on and that question of: “What do you wanna do today?” and my response is: “You’re lookin’ at it”.
Trev: so true! Friends are more important than gaming.
GreyWolf! Hello. and yah… he could use a bit of sunshine and fresh air… I’m guessing that basement wreaks of dirty laundry and spilled soda.
Pete… Nice inside joke… it’s nice when your circle gets a phrase that only you guys get (and needs explaining)… “Level Four fun” is a term we use at our house… it means that it’s an experience that is awful at the time of whatever is going on, but makes for a great story later. Level 1 fun, would be a super good time!
Judy…. Mouse should not be able to list Space Zombies as friends. If “getting a girlfriend (i.e.. Randie) was a video game, he’d probably do alright.
RN… he’s gonna need some sports (?) injury physical therapy for sure.
I’m all for video gaming, but when your friends say ‘let’s go out and do something’, go do it! Time spent with friends is never wasted.
OK, despite what I said last time … there *are* limits, Mouse. Go get some sunshine, man, you’re turning even paler than usual!

Poor Mouse. Video gaming and being love sick….such small occupations for a nice guy in a big world….
I’d suggest a repetitive-motion clinic for all that thumb action…
