The Future’s so Bright…
I leave Squid Row on a high note, mostly. Midge, who loves her job, will be stepping up to manager of Backstreet Comics. Now she’ll be head honcho in charge of ordering and shift managing and all the things necessary in running a store smoothly. She is no longer supporting dead-weight boyfriend Gabe and she’s seemed to have patched up things with Mouse somewhat.
Mouse… well, who knows if he’ll ever find the right girl. Midge, who is seeing a fella named Henry, seems like the right gal for Mouse… but perhaps a plutonic relationship is best.
Zeek, whose own married life keeps him from always joining in, remains a steadfast pal.
This is where I’ll leave Squid Row. It’s been a superb experience… and thank you for coming along!
I think I’ll probably miss Twinkie the most…. but hey, it’s been a fun ride, thanks for taking us on it!
So Midge is on the market again? Awesome.
And…
:’-(
Awesome run! And you’ve kind of set up a “Midge Comics” sequel, if ever you want to dive in with a new comic.
*HINT HINT!* 😀
Many thanks for all the years of Squid Row, Brig. And even though it is now at and end, I’ll always be a squiddie at heart.
I’ll miss the gang, both Squid and R&R, but I understand you gotta move on…
Still, if the toon fairy were to bob you upside the noggin, I wouldn’t cry to see more toons flowing from your digital pen…
“Pardon me, if I’m sentimental, when we say goodbye. / Don’t be angry with me should I cry. / When you’re gone, yet I’ll dream a little dream as years go by. / Now and then, there’s a fool such as I.”
Trev… He’s definitely a cranky cat… with a mischievous side. You got a favorite “Twinkie episode?” … I’m glad you had fun following the Squid… it’s been fun for me!
Yet… Midge is probably not going to be with Henry for any great length of time. Yes… she’d be on the market again.
Pete… Thank you so much! I do like Midge a lot… Maybe down the road? Who knows… I may pick up a typewriter. Thank you for all YOUR years of reading this here comic. Bless you and your Inky Squiddie heart!
Mark… thank you so much… It’s not the end of things… I will keep my Apple Pencil moving… You’ll see more from me… in the Art-o-Rama zine, too! Smiles!
RN… you say such sweet lyrical things. I thanks you for all the following… and being in this group of Squid-minded peoples!
I have been thinking about it and honestly, when Twinkie first got moved in with his current bestie Grace had to be my favorite little ‘Twinkie plot’.
Don’t worry about it, Mouse. Just stay yourself!
Awww…this is the end? I haven’t been this sad since the double-whammy in ’95 when Watterson and Larson left us!
Here’s hoping there will at least be a third Squid Row book to finish collecting the series (along with a Randie & Ryan one).
You’ve done a marvelous job, Brig.
Sad to see this go. Great comic, but has suffered from a lack of support. Generally only getting 13-14 votes on Top Web Comics. It deserved a much higher ranking. Instead of hovering around 1200, it should have been above 500. Keep the memory alive by voting here. http://topwebcomics.com/vote/10080
Thank you so much, Spark Plug. I had fun doing the comic over the years. It makes me happy that it made people smile. Thank you for your readership and your support. Smiles!
Thank you, Dada… it’s been a fun ride! Your support and readership has been a joy! You’ve been there through it all! Cheers to you!
That’s a good one, Trev. When the little crank went for a walk-about and wound up in Grace’s good graces (?)… sniff. Yah.
There’s a girl out there somewhere for our Mouse.
If anybody’s still ’round, Merry Christmas!
“At my door the leaves are falling / A cold wild wind will come / Sweethearts walk by together / And I still miss someone…”
I miss the comic. I was reminded today when I saw:

Aw… David… I’m glad that you enjoyed Squid Row… I miss it, too. I just went through all my sketchbooks and the ones where I was first creating Squid Row were some of my happiest books. And for the record… I still both love and fear gnomes (and obviously, there’s a lot to be afraid of! wink)
Robert… Smiles upon you! I miss the gang, too… and your comments! I hope that you are well!
