Thanksgiving First
I get so mad every year when I see Christmas stuff on the shelves in October. From then on it’s a steady push… more like a SHOVE… into that “most wonderful time of the year.” I DON’T want to hear Christmas carols before Halloween! I kid you not… Macy’s furniture store… Harry Connick Jr. swinging the Jingle Bells! I want to enjoy the season… but it’s no wonder why many people dread this time of year.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks the same! I get so mad when I here Christmas music and it’s hardly even cold out muchless November yet! I can’t even remember seeing anything Thanksgiving related in the home decor this year either…
Oh I know EXACTLY what you mean. People all ready have lights up. And I went into Kohl’s awhile back and they were playing “normal” music, and then every once in awhile they threw in a Christmas song like a friendly reminder that it is “only” two months away. =S They need to calm their butts down, no one’s going to forget when Christmas is.
Lol ! Well, that would not happen in France … Though some shops do special events for Halloween !
Well, instead of Christmas in July it’s Christmas in November.
It’s like Thanksgiving doesn’t even exist anymore. Like it was blipped off the mapped by corporate America. Though it is entertaining to see costume kit for a devil and a stable with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus sitting right next to each other.
When I was 4 or 5, on Thanksgiving Day we would watch the Macy’s T-day Parade on tv. The network, just before commercial breaks, would have the cast of some popular tv show wish the viewers Happy Holidays… they’d be in front of a fireplace and a Christmas tree or something… and this confused my little 4 year old mind! But it is Thanksgiving! Why is the Christmas people on tv?
Really? They actually wait to put out the Christmas!? How refreshing! One more reason to love France!
Ha! Yah… that’d be a great photo for the website! Anybody have such a photo? Please send it to me!!!
And dawgonnit, Thanksgiving should not be overshadowed by a holiday that is so overly commercially-driven! Money has ruined everything! (Ooops, I think I’ve slid into a rant… sorry… I should just let the cartoon do the talking. Sorry peoples)…
THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH! SOMEONE ELSE THINKS EARLY CRISTMAS IS INSANE TOO!!! Honestly! Have we just omitted Thanksgiving from the official calender?
Amen! My local dollar store has a quarter of it’s seasonal aisle full with Christmas stuff halfway through October.
It doesn’t help that us Canucks have our Thanksgiving in October.
I like Randie’s scarf 🙂
It was this Christmas before/at Halloween that inspired Tim Burton to create “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
We have a couple stores out here that put the Christmas stuff out as early as September 30th, when they put out the Halloween stuff. *sigh*
For those of us who observe the Christian side of Christmas, the commercial season is even more rushed, since there’s also the Advent season between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Fortunately, once December gets here, we can all start looking for the Valentine decorations. *wink*
Bite your tongue, Pete! I’m still on Christmas!
Sad to say, people are starting to put x-mas lights up around here… check the date stamp on the post 🙁
