Thanks Giving
This cartoon is dedicated to Dorothy’s Kitchen in Salinas, to all the soup kitchens and their volunteers, and those folks who donated food to the hungry this Thanksgiving.
I recently saw a picture of a young girl and her father at a soup kitchen… and it just really struck me… that this child probably goes hungry sometimes…. that perhaps there wasn’t always food in the pantry, if they even had a pantry. Maybe that little girl always shared her food with a sibling, or Daddy… maybe they only ate one meal a day. And this made me sad.
Make sure you count your blessings this holiday season…. and remember those who are less fortunate. Happy Thanksgiving all.
Dorothy went with the low bidder for her sign, didn’t she? 😀 Great comic.
Yeah Dorothy’s kitchen! Good people helping good people…
Love mankind, folks…they’re our best option.
Unlike Ryan, I don’t continuously re-read Steinbeck, but isn’t “Dorothy’s” the sort of operation Dora would be a silent backer of?
Dorothy’s Kitchen is a real place here in Salinas (Hometown of John Steinbeck… I am glad that you made a Steinbeck connection). It’s in Ryan’s good nature to help where he can. I see a connection to Cannery Row’s Doc…. a good soul who is loved by others for his kindness.
Hey, it’s Daniel over from Nicky510.
Whenever I look at that girl, it reminds me of Randie…it’s as if she staring into a mirror of her younger self…the homeless…
The people who eat at least three times every day sure take things for granted… the look on that young girl’s face…priceless.
Wow, Daniel… I had not thought about the “Randie Mirror thing”… but yah… Randie can empathize completely! I read somewhere that peoples who have less often give more to the poor than those who have MORE… interesting, non?
