I’m great at keeping secrets that do not involve me. Something a friend tells me in confidence is safe.
If I have a secret ABOUT me, then I can’t keep it. That’s really messed me up at times, since I have a couple of things about myself that I HAVE to keep secret from most people. 🙁
Pete,
I feel your pain. I am a ‘teller’ by nature, chatty and open. But sometimes discretion is required. And it’s hard. You start a conversation with colleagues and then quickly need to take it in a different direction….not fun. For the most part, though, I have found that telling, though hard and scary, is better than secrecy in the long run.
Pete… Yah, I know what you mean. My way of keeping a secret is avoidance… avoid people, avoid talking, avoid avoid avoid… and that is no good either. Acting like a clam makes you a clam.
Judy… as an art person, I have a tendency to want to express. I like to share and illustrate and put it out there… this is why… Clams don’t make good artists.
I’ll chime in on this one. When my friends confide in me I always tell them it’s in the vault. Then when they discuss it at a later time, I sometimes forget the secret. Guess I’m too good? haha
punk… ha! and she’ll kick some patootie if she hears you say that!
Eprinc… I like that… The Vault. It reminds me of that Friends episode when Joey and Rachael read each other’s favorite book. And when stuff gets too sad or scary, Joey puts the book in the freezer.
Dada… Nuh-uh! … that’s icky!
… unless you mean a regular barstool… then it’s not.
