I do the same. I finalllllly got around to doing them this year, and I didn’t keep track of my pay last year so I was digging through my bank accounts. Luckily (or unluckily?) I came in under the standard deduction, but legally I have to file taxes if I’m self-employed and make over $400 in a year. That’s a very worthless minimum.
I’ve always done mine as soon as I can, since up until this year I’ve always gotten money back, and the online software takes about half an hour once you’ve got all the paperwork. This next year, I’ll probably owe something (I’ve finally got a decent job). Let the procrastinating start!
In recent years I’ve been putting them off longer than normal. I used to get ’em done in February or March at the latest, but the last couple years I’ve waited till April.
Because, squid man, you have sensibly set your deductions so that you do not give the government an interest-free loan? Not getting stuff back is GOOD.
Me, I finished mine yesterday. Good thing, too, because there were some complications that I would have had a hard time hunting down if I had waited for tomorrow.
(sigh) i’ve not only received my refund, but i’ve spent it already…don’t have a whole lot to show for it, though, and it seems my record collection didn’t increase by much…
Got mine done back last month, and already have refunds in the bank. Good thing, too, as the refund covered the lost revenue from my 4-week work furlough because the Guvmint can’t get their fiscal ducks in order.
Starving artist taxes aren’t that difficult. Just remember to save all of your receipts for, er, ‘business expenses’ (if Randie writes off all of the money spent on coffee she should be fine!).
I can see that taxes = fun … for all of you! Kudos to yous who finished early…. you didn’t have it hanging over your head (hmmm, tax toon for next year… )
I actually found that my three month-ago self did part of my taxes early… I was pretty amazed to find that I’d done a bunch of the tedious stuff when I was working out something else back in January. So I’ll have to remember this for next year. But Saturday… the dang stupid stuff got done and sent off… with the help of my Head Minion. Thank you, Head Minion.

I’ve never been able to figure out how I get so little back, when everyone else gets nice, fat returns.
Taxes… for any sort of freelancer or self employed… is not a time of great joy….

Taxes are like a tidal wave of last minute guilt.
I just finished mine 10 minutes ago. at 11:37PM april 14th.
I did mine super-early this year (for me). I finished them the evening BEFORE they were due, not the day of. Gosh, am I growing responsible?
