Taxed
Last year I put off my taxes until the day of… and it’s the same thing every year… I tell myself that I’ll do them early and get it done and over with. You’d think I’d accept the fact that I’m going to wind up doing them just under the bell. Sigh.
Haha, I did the same thing. I just did my taxes yesterday, the first time I’ve ever had to file, and found I had a four hundred dollar refund headed my way. Best hour I ever spent!
i did mine in February. i got a thousand dollar return.
I am glad that the returns were good for ya’s (Shelby & Dr. Bob)… Last year I paid out $200 bucks… on top of the H&R Block fee (much too hefty). This year, I elicited the help of Sweetie Nelson & we did the Turbo Tax. I got off only paying 8 bucks… really. Eight… plus the slightly lower than H&R Block fee. Next year, I will do them earlier. I will.
Shelby, I love your avatar!
I have to be cruel and say a little “haha!” that Canadians get to do their taxes a bit later 🙂 (And that I don’t have an income to do taxes on).
Teeheehee~
Meghan, even if you don’t have an income, you can still do your taxes and probably get a small refund.
My brother didn’t earn any income last year and still got $100 back from the government (sales tax credit). We tease him that the government paid him like it pays politicians — for sitting on their butt and blowing hot air. lol. Of course it may vary from province to province, but it’s always worth a shot 🙂
In my case, because I’d earned so little at work, I qualified for the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Making Work Pay Credit… turning my $350 refund into nearly $900! I did mine via TaxAct (about $19 for the whole thing), and since I don’t have a bank account (don’t ask), I was able to get my federal refund on a prepaid debit card that’s actually better than those Green Dot-type ones… no loading fees – you can even get your paycheck direct-deposited on it! (which I did… very handy!)
I opened my backpack an hour and a half ago and saw an envelope that said “Important Tax Documents” and remembered that I had forgotten. Thank the gods for e-file. And slightly lower taxes (and the make work pay credit). I got a little back! YAY
That picture is actually from someone else’s work… I don’t usually borrow like that. I forget where I found it… hm. I think it was deviantART. This is really bugging me, I hate not being able to give credit where it’s due. 😛
Huh. After much crazy searching and weirdness (check out http://www.tineye.com sometime, you upload a picture and it searches for similar pics elsewhere), I found it, on deviantART. Memory serves well, eh? http://androidworkshop.deviantart.com/art/What-All-Robots-Lack-82255871
androidworkshop.com is the artist’s own website.
It only took 12 tabs to finally find it. 😀
And I asked the artist for permission to use it. 🙂
