Tax Time
Since my sister planned her wedding for April 14th, I had to get my taxes done early… It felt good to have them done before the last minute. And this year… total organization commences… yah… folders that separate month’s receipts and software that helps me keep track. Oh, yah… I no like Randie no mo! Take that, Tax Day!
spent both my federal and state refunds already…hoping for big ones next year…
We don’t get refunds, we pay in each year. That isn’t a sob story, tho – our tax bill is reasonable, I don’t mind. Paying in means they didn’t withhold too much and I spent it on credit card bills so we paid less interest. 😀
The only problem with it is I keep forgetting to rearrange the budget to get a little extra squirreled away the last couple pay periods going into it, so things do get a bit tight the month or so after taxes get sent in.
Yup, tax day is soon approaching, albeit a tad later this year. Ah, Tuesday, April 17th, thanks to the 15th being on a Sunday, and Monday the 16th being some sort of holiday. All the same, I suppose it’s time to do some accounting work today.
uh… I can’t turn in my homework because my dog ate it??!
I like that idea. I eat while I work, lunches should be free!
Can you deduct your new laptop?
Freelance artist taxes are a NIGHTMARE…as I’m sure you know.
I’ve always been one to leave enough in that I’m guaranteed a tax refund. A lot of people see that as dumb, but to me it serves two purposes: We get a nice chunk of change at tax time (and therefore are pretty prompt at filing each year); and the government – my government – has an interest-free loan from me.
Yes, I’m one of those weirdos who gladly pays taxes. Sure I wish they were lower, but I also understand that no matter how messed up our government gets, it’s still one of the best one. And it’s far, far, better than anarchy. So we should work to always improve our government while still appreciating what it does give us.
(Sorry for the double post. I’m setting up my new computer and have to remember my various non-saved logins.)
Pete: What I don’t understand is the general thinking that you can get something for nothing. If you want schools, and military, and free DC museums and parks, you have to have taxes… and I will pay my taxes…. but by the same token; I think the government can do a better job of spending the money I give them.
Dada… I hate DOING my taxes… fortunately, Nelson does the plugging into Turbo Tax. But I do all the retrieving and adding… yuck!
Joe… I can and will.
Jack… GAH! Wouldn’t that be great!?
stick, Wolf, Firedome…. Yah, I paid a little this year. I usually do… but ya know… I am blessed and I won’t complain.
